That thread went Poof once some simple facts were demanded....
I believe that bogus gofundme site stole several hundred real $$$ from well-intentioned but bamboolzed folks here....

I read the story, was inclined to make a (modest) donation to assuage my guilt over the many cheapskate things I do in life.
I clicked on the link but something held me back at the last second--the prospect of the always-possible Internet scam.
Then a series of interesting posts occurred--looks like a scam, no it doesn't, yes it does.
Then the thread's gone.
Any news?

I deleted that thread because people were mucking it up repeatedly and someone (a woman no less) was openly offensive to the female victim of unspeakably brutal domestic violence, who is also the extended family member of my good friend and climbing partner, Joe.
I don't have the time or energy to sit here and respond to *both* every legitimate question and every troll as well, and so it's gone.
This place is a swamp.
As far as the actual GoFundMe page it's up and active, and it's not a scam. It's at the top of my FB page and several of my friends have also shared it. It's a real story and it's tragic and compelling. They have raised just over 2K with a goal of 10K, and my thanks go out to those who elected to contribute, as I did.

Matt, if it's legit call your bro..."Joe" and get the perps real name/date of incident/arrest and the town/state it happened in. We can confirm the felony arrest in Cali and details (date/time/victims) of the accusations easily enough.
I'd wager 50% of those gofundme sites are total fraud, hence the suspicion. It's where all the Nigerian princes hang out now.

I just got off the phone from talking with Steve Tennis, Pamela's dad. Thanks for the contact info, sun.
The story is real. The assault occurred in Long Beach, not sure of the exact date, and the person accused is named Richard Gonzales (spelling?). Pamela has received help from Victim Services in California, but it doesn't provide enough compensation to pay for all of her dental work.
My apologies to Matt, as I was one of the people who helped drag his well intentioned thread into "the swamp". :-(

Really, we need to applaud Kris (OR PAY HIM, either way) for pulling down this thread as there were 5 going all on the front page. Ironically, isn't he in the music business and most knowledgeable on this ?
