FROM INSTAPUNDIT
THOSE TOLERANT CANADIANS: Canada: ‘Human Rights’ Tribunal orders woman’s house seized after she said Muslim employee’s lunch smelled bad.
It didn’t hold up in court — quite. Superior Court rules Ontario Human Rights Tribunal hearing was unfair.
A Mississauga businesswoman whose home was ordered seized to pay an Ontario Human Rights Tribunal award to a former employee can keep her house — for now.
The Superior Court struck down the “fatally flawed” decision as so unfair to defendant Maxcine Telfer — who represented herself in the hearing — that it was “simply not possible to logically follow the pathway taken by the adjudicator.”
That October 2009 decision ordered Telfer to pay $36,000 to a woman who had been her employee for six weeks. Lawyers wanted the sheriff to seize and sell Telfer’s home to collect the money.
Canada is overdue for a hardcore free speech movement.

The regulation of carbon emissions is a political question because it has severe economic consequences. I see nothing wrong with putting that decision in the hands of elected officials, rather than unelected bureaucrats and courts.
John
Funny how I hear that we should not put things in the hands of elected officials because they are prone to corruption through the processes of getting elected.
You cannot have it both ways, saying that elected officials should not be in charge of Gov't agencies, except in some cases where there is "economic consequences."
Think about it...EPA: Environmental Protection Agency. Who else is better suited in America to monitor and regulate green house gases??
Oh yeah, abolish the EPA and let the corporations monitor themselves. They have shown they do it themselves the best. Like the mining industry and the oil industry. (Looks good, as long as you don't look. Mining disasters lately? Heard about any significant oil spills?)
In other words, I think Lockers demand for a stance from the Righties here is still open. How can you support the Right while they show blatant disregard for the people in this country (and the world)?

No. For us, life begins when the kids are out of college and the dog dies.

FROM INSTAPUNDIT:
MORE OF THAT “NEW CIVILITY” WE WERE PROMISED? Video: Koch protests include calls to lynch Clarence Thomas. Note that this was at an event organized by the supposedly mainstream Common Cause. “Will the Southern Poverty Law Center report on the ‘Rage on the Left’ and label Common Cause a racist hate group?”
UPDATE: Reader C.J. Burch emails: “Gosh, it’s like this civility stuff is a sham bullies use when their victims hit back.”

Liberals and free speech -- like oil and water. Liberals scream "free speech" when they are saying what they want, but when others challenge them -- liberals will routinely cry "racist, hater, homophobe, etc." in order to shut the opposition down. Add this to the libs' favorite tool -- speech codes -- and you get the sense libs just arent into this free speech stuff.

JAMES TARANTO: “Death Panels” Revisited: How Sarah Palin helped defeat ObamaCare’s deceptive advertising. “Obama ran for office on opposition to the individual mandate, then made it the centerpiece of his signature legislative initiative. Perhaps this should have been ‘lie of the year.’ At PolitiFact.com, it wasn’t even a runner-up.”

Curious.
Obama ran against Hillary bashing the idea of an individual mandate -- i.e., the government unconstitutionally forcing you to buy a private product -- yet now this little fascist gem inside Obamacare is his cause celebre.
Why?

Why did Obama tell us during the campaign that the fascist individual mandate was bad?
OBAMA AD: "Hillary Clinton's attacking, but what's she not telling you about her health care plan? It forces everyone to buy insurance, even if you can't afford it, and you pay a penalty if you don't," said one of his television ads .
HMMM ... I wonder why Obama now isnt ripping the latter Obama?

Obama was against the mandate before he was for it:
Obama to Ellen DeGeneres during the campaign:
“Both of us want to provide health care to all Americans. There’s a slight difference, and her plan is a good one. But, she mandates that everybody buy health care. She’d have the government force every individual to buy insurance and I don’t have such a mandate because I don’t think the problem is that people don’t want health insurance, it’s that they can’t afford it,” Obama said in a Feb. 28, 2008 appearance on Ellen DeGeneres' television show. “So, I focus more on lowering costs. This is a modest difference. But, it’s one that she’s tried to elevate, arguing that because I don’t force people to buy health care that I’m not insuring everybody. Well, if things were that easy, I could mandate everybody to buy a house, and that would solve the problem of homelessness. It doesn’t."

Hang Obamacare around their necks in 2012.
From Instapundit:
JENNIFER RUBIN: Losing a Repeal Vote, But Winning The War Against ObamaCare. Key bit: “Every Democrat in the Senate is on record as supporting the health-spending bill, even as a growing chorus of Americans are calling on them to repeal it. And every Republican in Congress has now kept their promise to the American people — even as the bill’s implementation continues to break the promises Democrats made about what the bill would do.”
Question: Why are all of Obama's friends (unions, crony corporations, etc.) seeking exemptions from the wonders and joys of Obamacare? Hmmmmm...
