To the ǀXam-speaking Bushmen of South Africa, Canopus and Sirius signalled the appearance of termites and flying ants. (Southern hemisphere, hot weather, y'all.)
They also believed stars had the power to cause death and misfortune, and they would pray to Sirius and Canopus in particular to impart good fortune or skill. (Good luck with the pests.)

Since I haven't a thumb on the left, it's not possible to even think of handstanding/grandstanding on Half Dome or on the beach.[Click to View YouTube Video]
Pre-sunrise this a.m.
It's supposed to reach ninety-one today and ninety-five tomorrow. I remember a Memorial Day in the (nineteen) eighties at Lake Yosemite, when I camped with a friend and his family and we froze our buns instead of toasting them, though.

zBrown, I loved the large woody object seen on another (pretty useless and, let's face it, pointless) thread.
The termites control New Jersey. The home owners there only know their days are numbered, in spite of Termite Man's best efforts.
And there's The Termite himself.
Next pest, please.

Actually makes better sense here, if it makes any sense at all.
This purports to be the world from the point of view of a termite. They don't need no stinkin' guns, flames or badges.
However, it has been asked if a termite can see - the fact is that they are blind, but the reproductive ones may have eyes and wings, but by and large they cannot see. They move to homes and are attracted to damp and wet places. They bore holes into the wood and cause a great deal of damage to the wood structure.

hey there say, zbrown... wow, what a pic... such work, done, :))
say, i once had an old paino left at my place, from some lady that i babysat for in south texas...
the thing was neat to look at, poor lovely paino, but:
the WHOLE insides was riddle with termite work...
you'd near not believe it... whewww...
never saw anything like that... don't know it that brought termites to our small old house, or, if it was age old and done...
but the old house was falling apart on top of us, anyways...
folks that i knew, there, and their relatives, sadly never fixed stuff, :(
you know--the ol' :
family tradition...
now, long since then:
i am back to our family tradition:
see, think, study--then if wrong--try to see, think, study, and
fix in good solid, though kind, constructive ways...
and--never give up hope...
:)

A very scenic film here, one which might take up some idle time on Memorial Day, the day of the fallen warriors.

You can't expect Beaver Board results unless
a) Your're a Beaver
b) You're bored
c) You see the BB Trademark
d) All of the above
Note that second cub almost goes over the barrier too, making baby bear number one a "cub scout"

Jiles Perry Richardson, Jr.
In May 1957, he broke the record for continuous on-air broadcasting by 8 minutes. From a remote setup in the lobby of the Jefferson Theatre in downtown Beaumont, Richardson performed for a total of five days, two hours, and eight minutes, playing 1,821 records and taking showers during 5-minute newscasts.
Richardson is credited for creating the first music video in 1958, and recorded an early example himself.
Benny Bengosgos. Benny rode with us back in the day. He is what jew call fictionale, que no? He was a Flame and his cousins were, too.

My Brother Timothy Lee B. has pigeons, like these, in fact. There are few left. Hawks are faster.
[Click to View YouTube Video]He raised many birds but it's discouraging, to say the least to let them be hawk bait.
He lives out of Jamestown across from the Grotto.
