The truth is ... I had fun. See, I was hanging around Hangar 18 at the end of a long-weekend trip, mostly just taking advantage of their hotspot to get some work done, when Brian suggested a late trip to the quarry, which I'd never seen. So Brian, Tom and I got out there in late afternoon, walked across that mutant-breeding-toxic-waste-dump-soon-to-be-real-estate-development wasteland, hiked up to the wall, and straight off jumped on Flexercise which is so heavily glued I had to laugh, but the climbing was steep and fun. After we all took a turn leading that, Brian fired up Trundle Trophy, Tom & I followed kind of lunge-fully as the sun set, and since nobody fell we went home in fine spirits.
Even better, there was a celebration later that night. I took this to be my going-away party, though I don't think anyone else saw it that way.

Where's that one, cowpoke? It doesn't look much like the colors out my window or yours, right now.

Neat at the Optimator Wall (Indian Creek), and the first half is a neat break from straight-forward jamming. Looks nothing like the scene out my window (digging out the morning paper was an epic).

400+ posts, not too shabby for a thread that came along just when we needed one. Before it fades away, here's a blurred shot of the thread's OP, Wootles, onsighting Valley Daze (5.11d) at Rumney in 1997.

So I went back to edit a typo in my last post, and when I hit "Post this Reply" it did that slow thing where the entire thread loads at once. Went and refilled my coffee, came back, and all 400+ posts had loaded. To put off working a few minutes more, I scanned down the whole thread -- lots of fun stuff here, SuperTopians at play.
Noticed only 2 broken links the whole way, some kind of good record.

So much of the joy in climbing is about where you are, and who you're with.
One day I climbed Green Spur/Green Slab Direct with my daughter.
