robo ump for balls and strikes... they have proven they just can't do that part of the game, and they've never been good or consistant at it. Check swings too...
that basepath stuff is soooo lame. If you beat the throw, and actually touch the bag while doing so, the bumpy aftermath should not be grounds to call you out. Usual caveats, like being way off, or sliding past the bag should be a judgement call. The letter of the law in this case is not good for the game.

I'm sure Werner will back me on this: the umps need to go sit in a cave in Tibet to cleanse their
minds of junk and get clear. Umping Little League won't ready you for the bigs.

What position you guys play?
I was a catcher and 2nd baseman.
Played 3rd base and SS from LL through high school with some catching. We had a ball buster coach in High School... asked us who were catchers on day one. I found out that catchers had to run laps with all the gear on... and I'm talking about big laps, not a track. Told him I was a 3rd baseman. I remember doing way less running on the high school soccer team than on the baseball team.
Played 3b and SS for a bunch of years on an adult hardball team for never made it thowbacks from the bigs, college players and local minor leaguers trying to get some work in. That was a really good league. I played a few league nights a week and pretty high end tournament softball while that was going on and really never stopped playing. I'm still playing leagues and tourneys now. I just got back from Las Vegas after playing in the Senior Softball (40 and up) Worlds. We stunk, but them fossils can still compete. Ever seen a 70 year old man hit a softball close to 400ft? I have. Unreal.
Asked up thread... ever seen 95mph heat? Yep.. and got hit by the wild bastard. I still have a monkey bump just above my left elbow where he plunked me. He was a pitcher for the Mariners working on his control. Never found it I would guess. A few guys in that league had 90+ stuff. Good times.

Still use the Glovolium or some newish stuff that is basically lanolin based with some vit E.
A real glove is about $150 to $250 these days for a heart of the hide Rawlings or Wilson. Never liked the Mizuno or pre broken in stuff. I hate a real soft glove because the fingers will bend back on hot smashes...
I got a Rawlings glove for my 10th birthday... cost a hundred bucks then!!! Still have it and it is still in good shape.

Isn't that Larry King sitting behind home plate?
I noticed him there last year, too.
If you are facing the backstop, he's over to the right...sitting next to a blonde...
