All decent people (on this planet) are outraged by this act of barbarasim by Islamic Extremists. I agree with Hillary, they must be defeated, they must be wiped out.
You don't accomplish this by indiscriminate bombing or sending in an occupying force (for now). We need increased intelligence, targeted attacks and help from out allies in the region.
We are at war, but we need to be smart. Donini was spot on on how ISIS was created.

Chief....I am not actively training with the 10th Mountain Division (that's WW11 vintage), I've done some things with the 10th Special Forces and their Mountain School.....I was in the Special Forces a half century ago.
I believe that a strong military is necessary in this crazy world, I just believe it should be used intelligently.

They were formed in 1999 by a Jordanian Sunni (Abu Musab al-Zarqawi) for no other reason than to continue the ongoing Sunni-Shia shetfest Jihad amongst one another. Then used the Iraq War to gather strong momentum and recruitment in their quest to rid the region of all Shiite's.
And that is precisely what their primary goal is today and has been for the last seven years in Syria. They have included anyone that protects any Shia, Christian or Kurdish people in that region.
Besides, it's listed as a Shia holiday commemorating the martyrdom of Ali and ISIS purports to be Sunni.
