RSA is great--especially the Black Mountain Trail. I prefer Wunderlich to Huddart just because it's less crowded and less picnicky.

Crossfit 2-3 days a week, then climbing on the weekends. The workouts change every day, some are more strength oriented (low rep, heavy olympic lifts), some are more anaerobic, some purely aerobic. The last one I did was a fun combination; heavy, high intensity, with some body weight movements mixed in.

Man I wish I could afford crossfit.
I did 1 of the free sessions and I liked the camaraderie of it.

six miles on trail yesterday. Slipped twice in the last mile landing hard on the new hip. Might have to rethink the solo hiking as It took quite awhile to make it back to upright each time.

Today, Fear and Loathing in Vegas and the stationary bike...

Ouch, Wade, do be careful!
I ran the Ragnar Relay New York from Fri to Sat. Team of 12 does 197 miles from Bethel, NY in the Catskills down to Westchester Co. Everyone does 3 legs so I did about 20 miles total. It is the camaraderie, runner support and lack of sleep that made it a great experience. I got about 3 hours' sleep aggregate over the 27 hours it took us to finish.
Yesterday I slept a lot then bouldered at the gym. Discovered a pulley injury, foo! Only in the climbing world is a sore finger treated with appropriate care and sympathy, right? Or am I a wuss? ;)

Yesterday PE intervals in the climbing gym. 10min ARC & small bouldering pyramid warmup, workout of 4 intervals, ~40 moves ea, 1:1.5 work to rest time. Insanely pumped. Nice to be able to do this kind of workout with relatively few people in the gym.

Four hour tour up in RMNP.

Enjoying the ten minutes of sunshine we had this weekend before the fog moved in and we had to bail.

The weekend started off promising. Did 1/2 day coaching on running systems for rescue rigging. Then dashed out to drag the big load around for a few hours. It was a bit easier this weekend, and I got back to the car just as the rain moved in. Foolishly, I congratlated myself for staying dry and staying on plan.

7:00 PM the calls start rolling in. Party of 5 overdue on St. Helens. Party of 2 overdue on St. Helens. Family of 7 stranded in the Souixon. Our small team managed to get to all of them with only one snowmobile as a casualty. I didn't get any aerobic exercise in, but sleep deprivation and fighting cold sapped energy. After I got home 1 PM Sunday and revived in the hot tub, I set out for a long run instead of a major hike. I felt OK, but the time was horribly slow for no apparent reason. I decided to listen to my body, returned home with only 3 miles logged.

ALl night I wondered if I am lazy or smart? It is the first time in a long time that I didn't work out as long and hard as intended. I hate being lazy.

+1 what Wade said. You did the right thing by listening to your body. Rest is valuable.

Today I ran 5 miles at a comfortable pace, then did a heavy deadlift and push press workout to finish off my hamstrings.

It is a wonderful day, today. My new hypothesis is that I need to eat more, thanks to the changes in activity. I couldn't help eating anything that didn't run away from me and was hungry all the time. I was trying to avoid gaining weight while the miles running were cutback, and replaced with weight work, load carries, and long snow slogs. Fearfully, I jumped on the scale to get my punishment/inspiration to stop snacking. Somehow I lost 8 pounds in the last 5 weeks. Astounding!! You can't run on empty.

Joyfully, the calories consumed will be increased for the duration of the training. I ran 5 miles and did an hour of weight training focusing on arms yesterday. Today was a hilly 8 miles up through Washington Park. It may take a few days to figure out if eating more will help sustain the planned training. Did not feel like a zombie today.

Got my butt kicked on a 5.7 today and had a ground fall from 10'.

Last week I exercised 6 out of 7 days.

Seamstress, you must fuel the furnace! Besides, you will lose weight on the trip. Even I dropped a good 10 pounds or so. We were a team of three and would cook two dehydrated entrees for every meal. Every entree had two servings, so even though three of us ate dinner for four we all lost weight. So be sure to go in with fat reserves - they will keep you warm too :)

Today I worked on heavy thrusters, then ran intervals of 200m and 400m for a total of one mile. When I add my run times and exclude the resting times I ran a sub 6-minute mile. The only way I ever will LOL!
