Here's my wife and me eating lunch at Ivar's a couple of weeks ago - Lake Union, Seattle. We'd been kayaking all morning, pulled up to the dock in our gear, chowed down on some seafood, and then got back in the water for another couple of hours. I love that my wife does stuff like this with me!

I can only guess that she figured I might amount to something someday. She has pretty good instincts, so I'm pretty psyched about that.

This thread is indeed great!

After 8 1/2 years my lady and I are finally tying the knot. I am so happy! Because of her I stand taller and carry more confidence in myself. I look forward to bathing in the re-realization of our love in 13+ years...

Great thread madbolter1. Never thought I'd find myself in one of these "appreciation" threads, but just couldn't stay out of this one!

Guess I should chime in too.

I'll be coming home to an empty house every evening for the next ten days while she's off on her annual Indian Creek pilgrimage, but that'll just make me appreciate her all the more. Dunno what I ever did to deserve this good fortune, but I count my blessings every day.

And as for what t*r wrote near the top of this thread...

there are far too many of us on this forum who, in love, have been burned bad

Well, you can let that fester if you want, but life is best when you...

Nice thread mb.

Coming up to 10 years for us. I couldn't be happier and truly know, every day, how lucky I am.

And she's better with the kids than I am ;)

My first wife once told me to choose between climbing and her... I did. And she became my ex-wife.
My wife is so mauch smarter than my ex....she's never asked me to make that choice. We've been together 25 years.

There have been times when it was difficult...but the fact that you power through that just proves that the relationship is valuable.
She has stuck by me through thick and thin, borne 3 wonderful children. Pushed me to succeed and supported my efforts...and then acted like it was all my doing when it happened.

She knows I hate living behind the orange curtain. She's seen the map I keep with lines on it that define where "my life" begins (outside the LA basin), and appreciates the fact that I let her live there. But she also knows that look in my eye that says I need to go do my thing....and she let's me go.

MadBolter1 had it right in his opening post.. there was a night I remember about 15 years ago...we we just kickin back in the living room reading. I looked over and she looked so beautiful.. not glamourous, made up, hollywood BS beautiful...but purely and naturally beautiful - and I suddenly realized how lucky I was...and still am. When things get tough, I think of that night...and the afternoon in Yosemite when I relaized I wanted to spend my whole life with her.
Mrs. Barbarian, I love you more than I will ever be able to express! Thanks for hanging around this old dirtbag.

hey there all, say you guys are just the best at honoring your wives... say, if i ever am so blessed to find a guy again, i sure hope he comes spouting-off on this ol' trail here, too...
:)

god bless to you all, and many many happy more wonderful years to you all...

takes a right-nice humble fellow to confess appreciation to his gal...

once again, god bless and three wonderful cheers!
marriage is an honorable gift to each partner... :)

At our wedding, I said that I willingly had signed on for the "challenge option" with my wife. It's been a heck of a lot of work, but no regrets, a lot of fun, and abso-fricken-lutely worth it!

Then:

With the Countess and Rico Suave:

Grand entrance to the Piazza della Repubblica in Cortona:

And now:

The whole family at the Tiki Room last month (couldn't get the crazy baby red eye out for some reason only software daemons know):

Life is good.

I vote HELL YES for happy spouses...

My last trip to Yosemite, my fiance moved her whole family and all of her furniture to my house. I didn't have to lift so much as a couch cushion...

The trip before she ripped up all the carpet and readied the hardwood for resurfacing, took all the padding and carpet to the dump AND repainted the whole house.

My girl ROCKS!!!!

I guess I could be considered remiss if I didn't contribute.
I burned her out on climbing but the flame that matters still flames.
