It was like I had twigs in my eyes BEFORE the surgery, so I didn't notice much of a difference immediately after. I hope yours stays gone (and mine too!) oz.

just back from surgery on the Cataract on my right eye.. goes very quick and you're very conscious the whole time... they do give you some very nice stuff to keep you from getting anxious... when I peek around and threw the aluminum eye patch I can tell that the right eye will be much better than the left eye, and probably won't require glasses except for small print reading. I can read this off the screen without glasses for my left eye, not for the right.

I went in to prep at about 2:40, and we were in the car driving home at 4:30... the actual surgery was by far and away the least amount of time.

Thanks to all that gave me your stories of your own surgery, that certainly gave me reassurance that it was going to go well.

If you need prescription glasses, I've been using AO's for about 40 years.

You can get a prescription pair of shades for under 80 bucks

I like the F6000's with the breezecatcher side shields, (Almost never fog) and the cable temples (don't fall off even during a face plant) with a green Calobar glass lens (good IR and UV protection, basically a very light welding lens and glass doesn't scratch like plastic)

And, they are so retro the kids think they are cool.

Learning how to make some eskimo sunglasses with tape can save your butt.

What a coincidence! From the "Strange Booty" thread:

I was helping Al Givler herd some students up Mt Stuart.
We'd gotten an early start, against my usual norm, and we
were well past Lk Stuart before I realized I'd forgotten my
glacier gargoyles. Squinting like a born loser trying to
draw into an inside straight I continued on. We started up
the big couloir that drains the Stuart Glacier and started
finding debris from Mark Weigelt and team's 'lanche some months
previous. Then I looked right in front of me and saw Mark's
lensless wire-rimmed glasses! Being a student of Inuit culture
I cried, "Carpe glasses! I am saved!" I whipped out my first
aid kit and made some Eskimo glacier gargoyles by taping athletic
tape across the frames leaving a narrow strip. Worked like a charm!
Oh, by the by, nobody was seriously hurt in that 'lanche.

fly's eye is off now, I have to figure out how to deal with 20-20 in the right eye at distance now...
my right eye is still dilated from the surgery, and will be for a couple of days.... Debbie says I can go out and get some new sunglasses that will protect the right eye, I'll probably get something cool from the bike store that changes as the incident light changes...

Notice the lower flash image in the left eye is cloudy, and much less bright then in the right eye... that's the other cataract, it's not nearly as bad as the right eye one was. So my night vision should be a lot better! Someday in the future I'll get the left one done.

OK here are the eyes:

right eye

and left eye
