Holly,
I decked from 40'myself. Such a shock. Rudely bruised. So thankful to be alive and then, yes, joyous to be back on the stone. Pretty tentative at first, my mind didn't bounce with as much resilience as my body. But it too came back, and strong.
You'll be fine, but it will take a while. Here's wishing you patience in the meantime, and the strong desire of other things to do for awhile. Life is so full. Gratitude will lead you.
You will heal and this too will fade.

Holly:
Super bummer. Hang in there, the body has a wonderful way of healing it's self. My advice, get off the Narcs as soon as possible. They are great for pain, but slow down the healing process.
Also know that you have a large group of climbers and friends that are pulling for you.

Best wishes for recovery Holly.
For whatever it's worth, I caved in the side of my face, including multiple suborbital fractures, and healed fully.
Mind you, I looked pretty ugly for a while, but...

I met Holly a couple of years ago in Leavenworth and even went climbing with her. She showed up along with our own Kevin Rose and several others for a pasta feed I tied to do with Cascade Climbers and their forum. I think about five people showed up, Holly and a friend of hers were among them. As I recall, she was fairly outspoken about safety and I can't blame her, but some of the young male climbers she spoke to were obviously bugged. I thought it was really funny. I'm sure you are going to be just fine, Holly, but welcome to the wonderful world of pain.

hey there wayno.. wow, say, that is too bad about the guys not liking the "safety conscienciuos stuff" oh my...
it is always needed... same as for just walking in one's home... we are only human and it seems we need to take more care than the ol' critters.. they seem to land on their feet better, if they even so much as trip on the rug...
safety is always good...
once again, get well soon, holly... god blesss....

Just getting a chance to peek at this in a moment of lucidity before the next pain pills...
Thank you so much for the outpouring of support and encouragement. My list of injuries is somewhat long, but none are "serious" and I fully intend to make a speedy and full recovery.
I am being very well taken care of here by my friends and am so grateful for the quick and skillful response of our amazing SAR team. They are really the best.
Thanks everyone.
