As a friend toasted me on the occasion of one of my weddings: "May you live to a ripe, bickering old age together..."

Seriously, congratulations!

I am long overdue posting up on this one! The wedding ceremony and festivities were like a wonderful dream with every detail falling into place magically.

An hour before the ceremony, our minister, the right honorable DR, and Lara Thoreson were sitting out a torrential downpour watching lightning strike the Captain's brow! An hour before that, a deep calm took hold of my mind as I pondered the options and I simply felt that it would all work out. It did! When we arrived at Cathedral Beach in force the mud puddles were manageable, the river of mercy was smooth as glass and the sun began to filter through the trees. Classic Sierra storm!

Friends and family gathered along the river's edge and the place took us all in as I had hoped.

Doug lead us through the open door to a new life together with genuine humility, humor and wisdom. I will never forget his special blend of insights and love. He was the man for the job!

Though I have known her since college days, Mimi dressed in deepest blue never looked more beautiful to me than she did on that day.

Our heartfelt vows were heard and exchanged and we all headed back to El Portal to celebrate the day into night. Ed Whittle even put together a sound system for us at the last minute so that the many hours of music that we had meticulously recorded could fill the hall with love songs and all that jazz! The last puzzle piece in a dream made possible by friends who care. Thanks to all who supported us in so many ways!

Wow... congratulations! The river is a great venue... thoughts of stepping into the flow and flowing with grace. Wonderful!

I like it that DR seems to be wearing approach shoes!

Fletch, you can't get Dougie OUT of approach shoes as he figures that is just what he is so busy doing ALL the time. Approaching.

Now, as I watched with Ken Y next to me, we both expected the next step was for Doug to lower both Stevie and Mimi into the water, riverside babtism style, you see. Afterward we cried though. I was hoping for the bride's bouquet too.

Those of you who weren't at the event may wonder, perhaps even worry, why Dougie is pointing aloft like that in one of Mimi's posted photos. There was a middle-aged German party of two coming out of the large dihedral below the Black Cave while on the Pacific Ocean, out onto the wildly exposed orange face to the left. They had set up a portaledge with a white fly on it, very visible from our spot at Cathedral Beach Picnic Area. They were experiencing rain up there and setup earlier than they might have that evening. And right on schedule too for the marriage. The River and The Rock of Mimi and Steve. The rains at our spot had just stopped 20 minutes prior also.

Casual elegance was what we were trying to achieve. The pearls Mimi wore at the ceremony were my engagement gift.

Oh, Mimi and Steve....I just went through your entire Thread and tears of happiness in the eyes here. I hardly know you guys, but on the other hand feel like I've known ya for a while. In the book, "Anne of Green Gables", Anne said it all when she talked about people that met and knew immediately they were friends....she called them kindred spirits.

And Mimi, you look beautiful ! I love your wonderful blue dress and pearls. (Danboy gave me pearls too.) Steves written account was a blend of the historian and wonderful storyteller he is.

So that's DR on ST ? Never met but had a nice chat with him yesterday on "the pump and endorphins."

Anyway, Again all the bestest to two super people ! Lynne

Edit: and Steve, you're looking more than good in your Casual Elegance :D

Casual elegance indeed!
Double-breasted black suit and deep blue dress with pearls.
You both look fabulous & with the grace of Dr as officiant: a sterling touch.

My dear friend Marcy Wrenn asked Doug if he was of aboriginal extraction having recently been down under. Doug paused for a moment in cosmic contemplation and then responded, "No, but thank you." The aboriginal Mr. Robinson! Gotta love that in dreamtime!
