I nearly had one of those Audi Quattro Coupes as my first car. Went down to buy it used from a seller, drove it, decided I wanted it, but unfortunately, the guy who was there before me did the deal while I was on the test drive.

had an old black 911S that I used to drive too fast. Sold it before I could get caught or it could break down and bankrupt me. It was an older one so it hung tight but had the sound and ride of a rocket sled, you arrived a bit shaken.
I only paid $6000 for it but people (particularly females) would check me out in it like I was "special" somehow. Cars would pull over so I could pass. Seemed kinda ridiculous to me cause most of them paid 4x more for their cars!
The identification of a person with their rig is pure folly if you ask me.
Used to love the BMW 2002 for the classic lines, nice mountain cornering, and big visibility. Had two and they both let me down!
Got an Acura Legend with 170,000 miles on it now. That thing hums sweetly
Peace
Karl

Hard to picture Karl in a Porsche 911!
Don't care how much you said you paid for it. :-)
But it probably was a chick magnet. LEB would probably be the first to tell you that they are genetically programmed to go for the boys with the toys...
Disclaimer - I once owned a '62 Impala (purchased in 1976 when the '68 Impala that the in-laws had given us as a wedding gift the year before needed a water pump replacement). The '62 had a unique "sheen" in the original brown finish - a result of careful steel wool burnishing by the neighbor who sold it to us (for the princely sum of $100 paid at $10 per month over 10 months). He also helped replace the water pump (in the winter, of course) and later tie rods on the '68 Impala.
We actually got two solid years out of the '62 before it failed inspection because the bearings were so shot the wheels were almost falling off. Sold it at the nearly profitable price of $75 cash - one payment ;-)

1968 Ford Fairlane sedan ranks right up there with the 64 Falcon station wagons for longetivity and comfort and ruggedness. But its really hard to get a pizza thats been dumped upside down out of the shag carpet in those rigs.....

Classic? yep Cultic?you bet Fun?but of course
Bought this gem in 1962 from Galen for $900.00 classic Rowell car, doorknobs on backwards, Hurth transmission, special rear end ration for El Bravo type manuvers and
flash paint job. We painted it in his parents garage in the Berkeley Hills. If Galen could have his way, every car would be either black or Corvette silver.
Also bought a classic 55 Chev convertible from Galen for $300!!!!!!!!!
Another Rowell masterpiece. 64? Chev Carryall with the classic 327 engine and lots of character. Easily sit four in the front and many a long trips spent in this mode passing a gallon of wine back and forth. Gas gauge was a pencil on a string and the dash as a blackboard. Later we used an 8x8 piece of fir for the front bumper. Sold it to Jack Miller with the understanding we could use it any time. Probably retired to Hasting Mesa in Telluride.

The most practical vehicle I have ever encountered. Not mine, but would be a fun cruiser.
I was really into tractors at one time, but had give up the passion as I was prone to drive them into the ground.

My first car and first love:
Merkur XR4ti
Below was the make, model and year... unfortunately this was also how you would find it most of the time. I drove it like any 16 year old kid would.
I had two of them at a point, one to drive and one for parts. Ultimately rebuilt both engines. Did all the cool kid stuff like bigger exhaust, bigger turbo, bored cylinders, better electrical. I still miss that car... not really.
They required tons of work as it was Fords early attempt at electronically controlling a small turbo charged engine. They made them in Germany. A Ford made in Germany is still a Ford.
