Hey Jeff;

Keep up the good vibes, even though most people don't think of climbing as a team sport, I think you have a whole team of good people both online and in RL that "have your back".

Please do let us know how you are doing, we like to take care of our own as best we can.

Best wishes to you and yours, you'll be in a lot of people's thoughts.

To everyone else who has chipped in with kind words, good on you. You are what keeps us strong in times of need.

Best of luck to you, in challenging your new summit! Our little world is better for having Jello around.

Plus now we can debate the whole Segway-ascent thing. Is it aid? Top-ropes permissible? What about retro-Segwaying? Rap-Segwaying? This could get interesting.

Jeff,

What a special life you've lived. And I've no doubt but that it will remain so to the very end - something that I hope is a ways off yet.

...

It's funny... I was sad, reading the first 30 or so posts on here. And then I reached Jello's post: it was the usual blend of warmth, enthusiasm, humor, and pertinent information. Written well and candidly, to boot.

You truly are an inspiration, Jello.

Lotta folks, both friends and strangers, thinkin' good thoughts about you.

Count me in as another wisher wishin' good wishes...

Jeff, when I was a new climber, you and your peers inspired me to hang it all out there. The subsequent on-sights, long (sometimes broken and bloody) falls, shining summits, and other climbing (mis)adventures near and far have been some of the finest experiences of my life. Thank you. For me, it's an honor to be on the same thread with you.

Belay's on. Whatever you need. Whenever. Just say the word.

You commented that the posts here raised your spirits but I think it is we who's spirits were raised by reading your post. Your positive outlook, always looking for the line ahead, is probably what made you such an inspiriational climber. I've never met the moustached man I have seen so many pictures of but I read Ice World every ice season. I was just reading a section of it to someone the other day. You taught me it's not what number you climbed but the experience of being sketched out on that crag. We all respect you imensely Jeff. You can bet I'm fightin for ya!

Thank you all, once again! No time to post thanks to each individual, as I'm on deadline for a grant application for our Ogden Climbing Parks disabled and disadvantaged youth programs. We're looking for someone to replace me as director, and it would be nice to leave that person with something- anything-to work with.

Note to Flanders: I got your call. I'll be in touch, soon.

Aloha Jello!
I hope that segway has snowtires. Thanks for letting me know that the more gear I bring outdoors, the less of an outdoor experience I'll have.

Wishing you great strength My Friend.

RE; that cover shot that jbar posted.

We all know that Jeff was free soloing STEEP ice there, but it shows why there are good sports photographers and then then there are good climbing photographers.
That photo makes it look like a molehill.

I'll echo all the positive thoughts and prayers above. I went to a 2 day aid climbing clinic Jeff ran back in the 90's and had the chance to meet him and learn. A great guy.

Hang in there, Jeff, all the best.
