1 firearm would be my Rem 1100. I got it used when I was 16 for $50 in 1986. It came with 3 barrels for different chokes. Since I took the full and had it tooled to accept screw chokes. It isn't worth much more than I paid for it but it's a keeper.

Not sure. Email your plans, contact, etc.
I've been meaning to see if Alison is back from Nepal.
I've seen video of the auto 1100 in action.
Lets just say it makes a good (if involuntary) anti-aircraft gun.

Hey Ron, Why didn't the Security Six Stainless model make your best of list? I've had one since 86, and it's the best all around close defense weapon I have. That's considering a PPK/s and SPAS-12 too. Cheers * Lynne, I've got some sweet reload tables for the .223 that took a while to test, can reach well past 250m, and set your follow-ups in the same eye socket.

What can I say?
You're right.
In its day the double action .357 was the way to go, and the Ruger matched up to Colt, or S&W; at least before having aftermarket smithing.
(and the SPAS 12 is a POS. If you want a dual mode 12 get an M3 Super 90
and the Walther is unreliable for me although I have a Colt .380 gov that I love)

Agreed, the SPAS is getting sold. Seems like collectors and Hollywood buffs are more into it than real users..it did it's job back in the mid 80's. The Walther is finicky about it's fodder, Plus P's are the way to go, although I'm trying out Winchester SXT's at 95gr.
I also have a classic Mark II .22, it's gotta have at least 4000 rounds put through it! Still cycles and shots fine.

Ah yes. I remember BITD when my Mark IIs only had had 4,000 thru 'em.
The trick is having a dozen magazines.
Got a 4" bull stnls with awesome aftermarket target grips.
The time to have sold the SPAS was during the Clinton ban. Mine is now owned by a non-serious shooter in Vegas but I got it for $300 and used to have it mounted on my motorcycle handlebars.
THAT got some looks. haha

Sweeeeet! Total Terminator
BTW, if you're interested in .380's, I had a tip barrel Beretta that was loads of fun to shoot. I've always preferred the.380 as a back-up...ooooooh, reminds me of the AMT (local made) ;)

I have an AMT clone of the 10-22 that I have recently poured $ into.
Leupold 3-9, heavy barrel, comp stock, and the coup-de-grace, a Kidde 12oz. competition trigger (that last item alone was more than 4X the cost of my first 10-22).
I've seen the tip barrel .380 (and have both a 21A and a stnls Tomcat), but think that the model 84 with 13 + 1 is the way to go.
If its a backup for a hicap then I actually think THAT should be a Taurus 9mm because they both have frame mounted safeties, rather than another Beretta which would have a safety that works in the opposite direction.
Speaking of revolvers and backups;
even with the sea change to pistols revolvers still have a place. A titanium J frame delivers more power per shot per ounce of gun carried than ANY pistol.
Personally, I think that if you only have one opponent but you absolutely positively gotta put him down FAST then a 5 shot .44 spl , basically a J frame on steroids, loaded with Magsafe is the way to go.
The trick is not having more enemies. lol
Re; Magsafe and, for that matter, Glazers
Many ER docs have said to me that just one of any caliber into a lightly clad torso COM shot is a slam dunk kill as it is likely to cause multiple organ failure
So, what does one carry?
Well I know more than one street savvy operator who carries a big ole pistol AND a J frame.
But here is the kicker;
the J frame is seen as the primary rather than backup since its brought to bear faster!
Counterintuitive but gets the job done.

Ron, know anything about Ruger's new .327 mag round? I guess it's only offered in one model, a double action revolver.

dunno, Wayno
Sounds like potential for a mean 8 shot.
Lynne,
it shouldn't be a problem unless you see it as one.
I know lots of proficient female shooters.

No Prob. at all Ron. This is what my instructor said.
NEVER take your eye off the object, aim for the largest part of the body and unload. Yo, if I'm gonna get worked or they are guess who I'm gonna choose ? Generally peaceful, but not an idiot. Again, why would someone crash the casa uninvited ? Consequences.....ya. That's what guns, etc are for ....consequences for bad choices. Hard part of life. So behave yo all out there on the fringe. We love ya but we WON'T be victims. Just getting the juice out now and giving it a polish.

Jaybro, love archery. I actually won first place at a Club Med Euro Spot. Darn if I didn't hit the apple 3 outta 4 times. Just keep living life....and it gives you great opportunities. I have my silly Club Med medal to prove it.
Course I was wearing a swimsuit, not lederhosen....bwahahahaha.

Hi Lynne, great to hear the gals getting in some rounds and shafts! There's been days where my wife and daughter punch the paper better than I do (coffee addict, that be me ;)
Awww c'mon guys, only ONE weapon to carry? Happiness is an MP5, 10 mags, and discretionary close and contact orders :0 A buddy swears by his Barrett M82, it's hell to carry though. Realistically, my preference still runs with the wheelguns, and maybe a stick to poke their eyes if close enough.
All pumped up to go spearfishing in the morning :)

I love my HK. It is my favorite gun hands down, but if I could only have ONE gun then the 870 offers far more versatility.
(and what is with only 10 clips? My vest has pockets for 15 even without add ons.)
