I'll hold my nose and vote for McCain but what I find fascinating is the quasi religious furvor of the Obamites, and the disimulation about who he is.

In both of his own books he describes his socialist/colectivist philosophy and its origins in great detail.

Why do you have to pretend he's someone different?

Can't you admit the replacement of a free America with a Chavezista like regime is your hearts true desire?

LEB, I'm glad you enjoyed my illogical non sequitur. Quite reminiscent of many of yours.

The man who was searching high and low for an honest man, lantern in hand, was Diogenes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diogenes_of_Sinope I doubt he would have bothered with Washington, though he'd probably have taken a little more time with Obama than McCain.

According to Jewish/Christian/Muslim myth, god said he wouldn't destroy Sodom if ten righteous people could found in it. He and Abraham did some hard dickering to get to ten - originally god wanted 50. Anyway, only one righteous person could be found, so fire and brimstone were rained down on the Republicans of Sodom, who were so busy toe-tapping they didn't notice what happened.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodom_and_Gomorrah

Don't they teach anything in school any more? I mean, you'd think the whole Sodom thing would have indelibly impressed itself upon your impressionable young mind at Sunday school - full of all sorts of stuff that if were put into a movie, would guarantee an XXX rating. The so-called bible, and indeed most religious myths, is full of stuff that should cause it to be sold in brown wrappers, and not be accessible to minors.

Ugh. LEB how does posting a link properly distort the thread?

The article you posted is a friggin blog post. Mona Charen's other blog titles include:

-What Obama Could Destroy
-Michelle Obama's Fearful Vision
-Is this Hoover/Roosevelt Redux?
-Abstinence Education is Still A Good Idea

Also here is a kicker.....

-WHY THEY CAN'T VOTE FOR MCCAIN! (dated February 2008)

""One lady wrote that she would never vote for him as "He is the most disloyal, ill-tempered man and he brings out the worse in all of us...." Several readers made the point that after decades of suffering abuse at McCain's hands, conservatives are not going to fall into line for him now, no matter what blandishments he offers.

I know how they feel. The problem with McCain is not just that he strays. George Bush has strayed from conservatism, too. So has Fred Thompson. Certainly Mitt Romney has as well. But Sen. McCain has a knack for saying things in just the tones and accents that liberals prefer. In 2000, he condemned the late Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson as "agents of intolerance." In 2004, when Sen. John Kerry was getting his comeuppance from the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, vets who had known him during the war and couldn't remain silent as the Democratic nominee distorted his war record, McCain weighed in by calling the Swift Boaters "dishonorable and dishonest." When the Bush Administration was being vilified as a nest of Torquemadas for using waterboarding on three occasions, McCain came forward to condemn waterboarding as torture."

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/02/why_they_cant_vote_for_mccain.html

This was back when the entire conservative hate machine was hell-bent on destroying McCain's chances at winning the primary. She dutifully has changed her tune since then.

So yeah LEB...find me a NEWS SOURCE. This is like finding something in nursing that is EVIDENCE BASED. You are linking and quoting information from partisan hacks, not journalists. Don't get indignant and call other people blind and uninformed, or worse yet INTENTIONALLY DISTORTING FACTS, and then be totally unable to come up with actual evidence supporting your claims.

My post stands: Obama's connection to ACORN as described by the right-wing media and the McCain campaign (and LEB) is completely distorted. He represented them in a legal case along with the justice dept and then provided a whopping 2 hours of training, likely in reference to legal issues surrounding poll access and challenging voter validation.

Lois, Lois, Lois, I'm From, Chicago, (doesn't that mean that you are, too?) I know that Nobody is clean, ever. I've never encountered a politician that shares my world view, but really, this one is easy.

Another challenge for the Democrats will be to resist gloating, and untoward revenge. A little glee is OK, and I can understand that a few will feel that it's payback time after 30 years of Republican misbehaviour, but there's more at stake than that. Luckily Obama is relatively new to the game, and so won't have the accumulated baggage that others might have.

Bronx, really? I woulda remembered if I could have. When I lived in PHX I figured that the level of corruption in Az politics was second only to Chicago's. That was the Keating five/Ev Mecham days, as you must remember.

Holy crap LEB you are beyond....

So a partisan blogger....literally just a random person with a proclaimed political viewpoint writing whatever comes out of their head onto a computer and posting it on the internet....says that there is a connection and that is "good enough for you?" That's not even a source! Do you prescribe medication based on the advertisements on television or do you actually look up the studies and drug information?

So I guess that is the final word. After post after post proclaiming how you are the reasonable and moderate one you contradict yourself completely and fully. You have read a blog and it is good! All other information will be met with the sticking of fingers in ears.

I really hope you approach patient care with a more open mind and eye for real information, because if you approach medicine in the same manner as you do politics your patients are really in for it. I doubt this is the case, and would urge you to apply the same rigor to your political studies as you do to your medical ones. You wouldn't trust some random person on the internet to tell you the effects of a drug or efficacy of a treatment...why would you do the same regarding the facts of someone's life?

Also this link thing has me baffled. Everyone else posts links just fine without them "distorting the page." Sounds like you need to set your screen resolution higher or something.

TGT- After 12 years of an incredibly mean-spirited Republican majority and 8 years of Bush marginalizing liberals and driving this country into the ground you are surprised at the passion and frustration of people to Obama? Are you serious? Just because you are apathetic doesn't make our enthusiasm for a positive direction for this country "religious."

It's not over her head Powers, she just likes to pivot subjects when she knows that she's got nothing more to say. Thanks for your concern, LEB but I'm doing just fine and I can worry about my own priorities thanks. I'd be more concerned about your patients.

That doesn't get you off the hook though. As I've said countless times to you before, if you want to believe just for the sake of belief that is fine...just don't pretend that you have evidence or a logical argument when you don't.

The LEB is a fvcking idiot, haven't you figured that out yet?

I can;t believe anyone uses her for medical purposes.

I also can't believe that anyone who is not a moronic rethuglcian will talk to her in her stupid financial thread.

BTW, nurse practitioner is pretty low on the totem pole compared to physician's assistant, surgeon's assistant, or MD. I know a bunch of each, and none have ever seemed nearly so dense as the LEB.

Yes we are very, very different people. I look for facts that are verifiable in reality. You look for "facts" that "feel right." You are the very definition of a world-view reinforcing information seeker. THAT is the primary difference between our worldviews.

It doesn't matter how emotional someone is. I can be a hysterical mess and have the correct information. You can be calm and indifferent and still have the wrong information. A blog is not a source. It is someone stating an opinion. It's no different than me hearing a convincing drug advertisement and then thinking I know everything about that drug.

"I will offer that few intelligent people hear a "convincing add about a drug" and then think they know all about the drug. If someone does engage in such thinking, he or she is a veritable moron. "

So then by your own criteria you are a veritable moron when it comes to politics. I'm glad that we can finally put this argument to rest.

Interesting ....

HighDesertDJ and LEB having this discussion, kind of flowing along, never mind the subject (not really important pertaining to my post here).

Anyways there's even sort of flowing eloquence to the stream of words.

THEN --- comes: "The LEB is a fvcking idiot, haven't you figured that out yet?" Hahahaha I have to laugh, because it's so stupid to inject that line in there.

Dirt --- it doesn't always work .......

And dirt, just to clarify, an NP has a lot more education than a PA does, and in many states has a much larger scope of practice. They don't need to work under a MD's supervision like a PA does. I'm not sure this will ease your fears regarding LEB, however.
