Very Nice!

My inlaws live in Stanly but I can never get time away from work in the summer to climb the Perch. One day?

Lots of fun had there in the winter though.

View of Sawtoohs from inlaws house. So nice!

Wow, very nice!

You guys did score classic climbs, great weather, and no crowds. And it's always good to miss one climb and have to go back. Next time, from Big Sandy Lake wander a mile to the right to check out routes on Haystack.

Thinking of the Cirque approach carrying that haul bag makes my shoulders hurt, though.

Ed -- So interesting comparing Wolfs Head to Matthes Crest. You are totally right about Wolfs Head being a finer climb!

Once I was amusing myself tabulating the best 5.6 climbs in the country. Of all the alpine ones, Wolfs Head is tops. For pure rock climbs, and now that Royal Arches is harder, I go for the Tree Route at Dome Rock.

Great TR- three of my favorite places on the planet. Just want to remind people that the Elephants Perch has a nasty approach thru a vertical jungle and clouds of mosquitos preceded by a harrowing trip across the lake in a leaky boat.

You forgot to also mention that from April to November its closed for raptor nesting and to preserve sasquatch critical mating habitat.

Great TR!

Awesome, Dudeman! If I'm ever back in the area, I'm gonna go check out the Finger of Fate. Looks really cool in your photos.

What year were those shots taken?

Awesome TR- I was in the winds a few weeks before you folks with my wife. I wanted to do wolfs head but we decided not to go that route because I had heard that it was a long day and my wife was recovering from a broken ankle so I didn't want to push it. I was kinda bummed but we went to deep lake by Haystack Mtn and did an easy route on the north face there. It was beautiful and your TR definitely captures that and re-kindles the memory. Next time- we are gonna get on wolfs head. Really looks awesome!
