Woody, I challenge you to find one place where I compared anyone to Hitler or referred to them or their group association as Nazi.
I do not condone it in those cases and I believe that I have stood by that principal throughout.
Juan, Jeff, Lost Arrow, you all have equated all socialists as the same thing. A rather uninformed argument... the most basic logical fallacy: Hitler was a socialist, Obama is a socialist, therefore Obama is Hitler. That alone is a false statement as are each of the individual equalities in the statement.
Perhaps I give you too much credit by thinking you are using a rather crude rhetorical device to make you more subtle point. I am beginning to believe you have no point at all except to derive notoriety out of controversial words... ah, but I forget, you are just an internet troll with no redeeming social value.

Riefenstahl began her film career in bergfilm as an actress. Her first commercial movie, Das Blaue Light (1932), was filmed in the Dolomites.
I personally doubt the wisdom of the Obama campaign in choosing this particular locale and for moving out of the convention center. The columns are an especially unfortunate backdrop, not so much for any association they might have with Fascism's love for classical architecture, as for their reminders to the hardcore flat-earthers of the rumours that Obama is the Antichrist. A small but organized and influential strain of conservative Protestant theology sees all classical elements in American architetural and cultural life as remnants of paganism and a deeper Satanic plot.
So far as Riefenstahl is concerned, you can still see her inflluence on American political spectacle, but most recently in the Bush administration's staging. The construction of the "Mission Accomplished" speech, with Bush "flying" in to land on the carrier and speak to the military, was lifted from the famous "Happiness Descends from the Heavens" sequence in Riefenstahl's film of the Nuremburg rallies. It was a pretty brazen move on the part of his handlers, but attracted little critical comment in the mainstream media.

"The amount of vitriol coming from others in this forum toward Republicans"
You have got to be joking.
People have been remarkably civil to Republicans given the egregious record of Republican rule during the Bush years.
Obama is clearly taking the higher ground. It would be so easy to use the nearly endless stream of recent GOP abuses to create a compelling negative campaign, but he has not done so.

“I believe that America's free market has been the engine of America's great progress. It's created a prosperity that is the envy of the world. It's led to a standard of living unmatched in history. And it has provided great rewards to the innovators and risk-takers who have made America a beacon for science, and technology, and discovery…We are all in this together. From CEOs to shareholders, from financiers to factory workers, we all have a stake in each other's success because the more Americans prosper, the more America prospers.”
— Barack Obama, New York, NY, September 17, 2007
Clearly Obama's worldview vis a vis Economic policy does not even come remotely close to your definition of socialist. Skipt you are truly as thick as two short planks.

Ed,
I have never equated Obama with Hitler. Either you are misinformed or you have misinterpreted something.
Further, in the past, on ST, others have equated Bush with Hitler, Fascist etc. There are those on this site that know no restraint when attacking others, demeaning others with obscenities and other various forms of personal attack.
I sense that you have not read theses comment or you would be aware of how foul some of these comments were. Some of the worst related to the death of Tony Snow. Check them out to confirm what I've said. I don't know how to pull these threads up, and they may have been deleted by now. But, they will be remembered by many who took offense.

In 2004 who would have believed a second term could be won based on a four year record of absolute failure and confusion.
We need to avoid that mistake in 2008.

Woody. didn't say you did, but you seemed to imply that it people protesting the language of this thread are hypocritical because things have been said in other threads about Bush... you are probably correct, there are something like 782 references to "Hitler" when I search. The vast majority of those I wouldn't have looked at because the thread titles were something I just wouldn't click on. There are 5 threads with "Hitler" in the title:
Climbing for Hitler? by JuanDeFuca 9/11/05
Hitler Cats by Karen 6/22/06
(OT) Warning...Political Thread: Hitler/Bush Parallels by My Name Is Drew 7/25/07
The only thread similar to LostArrow's troll and Russ Walling posts the definitive rebuttal... I probably should have posted to this too...
Ever feel like ripping Hitler's head off? by bluering 7/5/08
Obama and his Hitler like Speech Tomorrow by LostArrow 8/27/08
Jeff authored 40% of the threads with "Hitler" in the title, a meaningless statistic, but certainly indicates that such titles are attention getters... why else would Jeff post?
