If I can be there, I will. I may have to come back to the Bay to get my gf, so we'll see how the timing works out.

Thanks for the bump Peter,

I hope to see a good turnout. There will be a lot of our history in this little room. A good response will help determine the size of a permanent space. This exhibit will play a pivotal role in the future of a future climbing museum. It has been a long and difficult road.

Unfinished business:

1. The story behind the grooved hammer near the start of the thread.
2. The poster for the exhibit, if there is one. (For Lynne.)
3. The down and dirty on SG's activities.

We're all ears.

Bump.

Lynne, It will still be there during the Facelift.

Mike, are you showing up? It would be good to see you again.

Mighty, I did not have time to make a poster. One of the images is not a high enough resolution to do so. I can save you an invitation. As far as the evidence of Grossmans manufacturing of routes, you will have to wait and see.

The hammer belonged to John Salathe. In the second picture, you can see a Diamond P on the carabiner.

Sure wish I could be there. Maybe I'll buy a ticket for the lottery tonight, and if I win then I can come.

Ken, how will they assess the exhibit's success, in terms of helping to decide on a permanent climbing museum? I take it that one element will be total traffic over the next five months, but that there are other things - room, master plan, balancing with other priorities, politics, fundraising, etc - that would also be important. Though I'm guessing that some pooh-bahs will be there on Friday, and we want to put our best foot forward.

If the free wine bit gets around Camp 4, there should be lots of climbers there, though it might get interesting...

Hi Anders,

Attendance and public interest would be good indicators. When a public space is alloted I think funding will be no problem.

The exhibit is close to being done and I think there will be something of interest for everyone that walks in there. It has been quite a learning experience, especially dealing with printing companies.

I can't wait to take a day off on Sunday, it will be the first in over 6 months.

Hooray!

It has been a long six month struggle with a lot of stress. Everything is ready for tomorrow after a mornings worth of work. All we need is a good turnout and to enjoy the afternoon. I was bombarded with a lot of free wine. Time to indulge a bit. I hope to see a lot of you there.

The sound of the Merced river, and the birds...a very fine morning in El Portal...Hayley, last kid in the household graduated last night...27 years since we bought this house...a perfect home for the Ballerini-Chapman-Mayfield-Yager tribe...it is a great day, and Ken's exhibit grand opening event this evening should be awesome...look forward to seeing some of you there...
