Here's one from an early (1984) trip to the 'Bugs... I'm leading and Mike is clowning around at the belay... Lawrence snaps the pic.

OSCA: old school clowning around (I really wasn't standing on Mike's head, really)

So, Ed, I notice no helmet on you. I hate them too. I really loose my peripheral vision with those brain buckets. I remember Chounard saying once they are rock magnets.

I finally started wearing a helmet this year... I hate it, much prefer my "Berkeley helmet", the bandana headband... but with the number of people out and about it is only a good precaution to wear one. I still go helmutless when the rock is "clean" and I have no friends up above. Better to climb in a manner which wouldn't require you to wear one.

In those days in the 'Bugs there weren't hardly anyone around to knock the loose stuff off. And if it came off anyway, well, that was going to be your time. I once watched the west face of Bugaboo Spire explode under us... having a helmut wouldn't have helped.

"Do you mean new subject matter? I have put up several pages of new stuff in the last few months. Seriously, what would you like?:)"

Jody-
I'm just giving you a hard time, mainly because the Whitney/Keeler shots keep popping up time and time again since last year.
You've redeemed yourself with these new old shots (your dad's I assume). I esp. like the last one you've posted - somewhere in Utah perhaps?

I like the old school shots as well. What a great influance your dad must be Jody. My father was never a climber but he got me in the mountains frequently at a young age. Great pictures Ed and Jody!!
