Russ you're right....I was trying to remember the details of the Naming Of The Crag That Is Or Isn't The Soul of SoCal Climbing and meant to ask Mr. Crusher as he was around for it...

Then there's High Desert, uh, I mean "Apple Jack City" too.

Well, if that's the case, then I suppose it's a fitting name. I mean, those 3 definitely understand the true nature of the Dripper's achievements in all areas of life. Mari's the one who told me they named part of William Jackistan.

Having adhered fiercely to an on-sight, ground-up ethic when I was new routing at Sawtooth, I can attest that sport is the best and highest use of the place.

"New Jack" was the scene of several of the scariest leads in my life.

You might say that after a season or two out there my ethics got ground up...

Having known Mike L, Mari G, And BOOGS, for many years I wasn't aware of the naming only that I knew Jack, way back when...He was an good climber, an alright dude...Next thing I knew he was Rad! In a 5.13 kind of way...Good on you Tripper Man!!
