dufas, I'm working my way through it. With support from guys like you I do think I'll make it. I think I need a bentonite clay and psylium husk shake to settle things down a bit.

Karl pointed out... "folks aren't self aware enough to recognize how our physical state exaggerates our emotional state, even creates it.
This is such a true statement. If you've ever done a raw foods cleanse you'd understand EXACTLY what Karl means by this. Self-awareness is an amazing thing that people just neglect. Try doing a raw foods cleanse for a month (finishing with a five day fast) and you'll be a more aware person. It is just amazing to me how now I can very easily determine my blood pH (realitive acidic/alkaline) based on my mood. Tuning in to food and what it does for you is very eye-opening.

How are you testing the pH of your blood?

I'm not testing it directly. I used that statement with in the full context of what I quoted from Karl - it's my awarness that is the "test". The word "relative" is critical. Typical symptoms of more acidic (again relative) blood are general depression, feeling "bitchy", complaining and overall just not feeling well. Heck, when you have a hangover your blood is relatively acidic. Munch raw foods, drink water and your blood pH will move more towards alkaline.
Oh, and when I do the cleanse I use litmus paper to test the pH of my saliva and urine. There is also a test where you test your saliva before and after eating a lemon. The results help determine the buffering capacity of your blood. Heck, I talk to many many people that think a lemon will cause your blood to be acidic. It's fun to point out that chicken is high-acid forming in the blood while a lemon/lime (all citrus) is high-alkaline forming.
Part of my point was that the focus on foods added with the conceptual basis of Acid/Base reactions in the blood tossed in with a good cleanse helps you to be more aware of how foods (especially directly affect you).

Last I checked there was no pH tester on the end my enima bag tube.
"I suggest a plant enzyme colonic with a wheatgrass juice chaser". yummy, that really would put me in a great mood!

Hey MM- you deleted your post. I saw that. You climb - cool. I will now attempt to not engage you or anyone in political discussion. Unless you are a identified as a total loser I will not ignore any posts by you in regards to climbing related issues. And if you want to know more about coffee enima's and cleanses I'll gladly engage you in that.
Civil enough for ya?!?!
(wait, now that I think about it that was a rather good post. Why DID you delete it? - didn't piss enough people off with it? ;-)

Nature,
it was from the heart. But it wasn't answered, and the post were piling up, so I decided your question was insincere, so I deleted it.
I would be very interested in the working of your cleansing and fasts.

There goes the civility. Surprise surprise.
I have a nice set up for backcountry. Friscchi Diamir bindings on volant powerkarves. Skins. Unfortuantely I live in a local more suited to corss country skiing. I do ski patrol some on that set up, it skiis as good as downhill bindings.
I did some great peak skiing in Montana a few years ago. That is awesome. My buddy set off an avalance that went down 1500 feet to the valley!
What do you do backcountry on skis? I mean this sincerely.

MM - my question was very sincere. I searched my memory banks and not one post about climbing could I remember you authoring. I had to ask because if you don't climb your opinion on religion and politics really don't belong on this forum. So as a climber you may rant on....

Jody, you've been posting here for how long? Certianly one or two posts you've made in the past have slipped from your memory banks. I'm not going looking for the posts - there's 100's to sort through - but I can recall two or so posts where you tell of your abilities. If nothing else, it's probably safe to say, in the image of your dad, a pioneer of new and unknown mountains and rock walls you are not.
Besides, you're a cop and you eat donuts. What more do I need to know?

nature,
In my deleted post, I explained I don't feel I have much to add regarding climbing in such august circles.
Liberal contempt, that I can handle...
But climbing is my passion. I believe the highest peak in Arizona is near you. Where do you climb locally. Are there climb in the GC?

MM, did some classics last year, Basin, Tom, Shasta and Pyramid (near Tahoe) last year. survival skiing is my specialty, it ain't always pretty , but it's always fun, and I get down in one piece.
I've got Shuksans with one past model fritschi. Had a heel elevator bust on me on Pyramid. Primo, best corn, and I'm skiing with a fricking broken binding, probably my first and only exposure to tele. Scarpa laser boots, bust up my calves if I'm not careful. Saw some slides on Tom that took all the snow right down to the ground.
Skiing the peaks makes me wanna scream, even more than climbing.

I would be ready to die and go to heaven to do those peaks. I ski in Scarpa denali boots, ice climbed with em, but am switching to leather for this season.
There is nothing like taking turns down a big snowfiel, untouched by man In Montana, it was May and the snow was chest deep. The climb out was an epic.
If you have a good backcountry ski picture, feel free to post it or shoot it to me. Whew,

Yeah, biggest peak is Humphrey's Peak (12,633) right here next to flag. Before it blew it's top the whole thing probably shot up to 17K. There is a ton of snow up there now. I think they open the "resort" this week.
There is climbing in the GC but it's scattered. Winslow Wall for me has been my oasis (and it is an oasis in the desert). I can't list everywhere I climb locally - we are very lucky to have the extensive amount of climbing we have. Really the question is how far do I want to drive - 10 minutes, 40 minutes, 2 hours or 5 hours? Anything in between.
BTW, you probably do have more to offer in terms of climbing than politics/religion.

I spent the winter of 1968 living in San Francisco. Hiked with the Sierra Club, climbed Mt. Tam. Went winter camping in Yosemite.
Used my new skills and solo hiked to the bottom of the GC for a week. March of 69 it was deserted. It was a mind blower. I hear it's anything but deserted these days.
