Ken, that last picture tells a story all its own. A very well deserved afternoon nap, toward the end of the FaceLift.

Anders,
For some reason the fourth day is always the hardest. I had to rest before the evening program and the Octoberfest or I wouldn't have made it.

Hey Crimpie--too neat fotos! The hubcap is a vintage FORD. . .
When did you climb at Seneca--I was back there in the early
70's. Maybe I'll make it to Yos next year!

Thanks for the hubcap ID. It was driving us nuts. That piece alone weighed a lot.
I was at Seneca mostly from 1998-2003. It is the first trad following and leading I've ever done. Not sure what it is, but the place just offers such fun and physical climbs. I still get back on occasion when I go to DC. I love that place. :)

hey there crimpergirl... say, i was very sorry to hear about your pets.. the birds... i am so very glad all turned out well for them.... i have four cats... sure would not want them to go through all that, either...
thanks all for sharing these great pics... sure do miss yosemite.. i rememeber there is NOTHING like that wonderful feeling as you work your way into the valley... on that long drive up, into the mountains, and that view of the merced, too, as you approach... a sense of great majesty, with all the rockyness looming about both sides of the highway...
thanks for the pics, again...

I took a gift to the vet's office this morning. The totality of it hit me there and I blubbered like a baby thanking them.
The vet said bluntly that she cannot believe the birds lived. There is no medical explanation for it. I can't believe they are still here either. I hear them in their room right now chattering, preening, playing and am so happy to hear that music.
Thanks for the nice comments from everyone - it means a lot.

Another story. The first day of the FaceLift, I was sitting at the table. Three young people on bicycles came by, and we started chatting. They were from New Zealand, and their family was on a year-long tour of the U.S. - mother, father, five children (roughly 4, 6, 7, 9, 10). Quite nice folk. Eventually they signed up, and were sent to a campground to clean up.
While working at the campground, they saw a BEAR! Their eyes were big as saucers when they reported later.

Just looked through this post again...

Some folks stayed at Yellow Pines and didn't pick up trash?
So what. Isn't that a celebrated part of the climbing life? Coupons- that would be like the tight regulation of camp 4.
Relax.

I'd like to make something very clear....
I do not know how to express myself through the art of dance...And I have no rythem whatsoever.. But this just looked a little... Funny.
And this one showing 2 recognizable sushifesterers. I just had to wonder what they were saying right before this photo was taken... not totally sure of the context, but I think these guys lookin for some action.
...or maybe they were both taking part in that hypnosis demonstration that Ander's was putting on on Sat night!
Good times

Check out what would have been a great photo of Murcy on Pine Line. My photo skills are so lacking. At least it is clear that my attention was on belaying and not focusing.
At least the granite is in focus.
Another would-be beauty (though it is sort of cool anyway).
The order of these makes it look like he was down climbing!

ken for president! four terms at least!
and thanks for the photos, crimpergirl. obviously they're blurred because i was climbing at very near light speed. pine line in a day! anyway the superb granite there at the base of el capitain is the real star, and it was such an amazing day to be in the valley. you HAVE to get out of st. louis. maybe we could start a petition to form the university of califoria, crime statistics campus, yosemite.

Neebee - did you know that I've been sending you emails to get your address too? Maybe you don't use the one that you have here. It is a very small token, but something I got in yosemite that I thought you'd like. I will send another email to your st.com address...

Crimpie--glad you felt enlightened about the hubcap. I was climbing in Seneca from 73-76, so I guess we missed.
