Neebee,
We haven't met that I know of, though we should have. There is always something gratifying about working with wood (no pun intended. I know your brothers well (all three of them).
Peter, How are you? Come by next time you are in town and I will give you a tour. El Portal is awesome!

hey there ken... say, my computer just downloaded the pics of your house project.... it looks like it will be very nice when done... say, my brothers know me, as beth, or liz, or lizzy... (all from elizabeth) but i use neebee always as it is my pen-name from writing, and my friends in these-here parts, know it better.... just in case you ever run into them--
it is an ojibwe indian name, given to me from a close friends, family---i liked it for the internet handle too, and it made a great pen-name, as my fiction books are for inspiration, etc... kind of like how tea is medicinal ...
well, best of luck with your house, there, ken... keep skinning them ol' chickens! may come in handy for your house warming...

I am still digging for paperwork I have packed away in storage. I am helping out with my mom so I am still in Ventura and I am busy missing Mammoth.
When I get back to Mammoth, the first thing I am going to do is enjoy being alone.

What is cool about living in Salt Lake City proper is that once a year we have a clean up day. You can put as much sh#t as you can out on curb. So this year I trashed the basement and took out several walls so that we can rebuild and have a nice TV room in the basement. Mean while the wife and and I cleared out a bunch of bushes that I cut down last year to make a new shed in the garden. Last year the old shed was taken down and dumped it out on the curb. Oh, yeah I cut down several trees for my neighbor so she could put in some big windows in her basement.
Tomorrow we meet with a contractor on our house addition - new mud room, basement stairs and most important a bigger kitchen. Gonna be a busy fall.
In the mean time I got off my butt and did a few new routes around the the Wastach. That was funny. Forgot the wrench on one route, ran out of battery on another. One route is a good one though so I am happy about that.
I got a note last week acknowledging that I donated 668 "journals" to my University library. Those journals were many many years of Climbing, Rock & Ice, Summit, Off Belay, and Backpacker magazines. So if you are looking for a back issue you may be able to read it there.
For fun, I am going down to the Cape to watch a friend get blasted into space. I missed his first trip so I really want to see him go for a big ride up.

taste of fall in the air out here and it's the beginning of yet another wonderful autumn in the rockies - havta get some pics of the trees changing.
well , not much news or new projects for me - looking for a new and better apartment - think I found one - once moved it's all about my pile of DVD training material for more programs, as usual - seems to never end...fun stuff though, I'm into it.
John Hansen, stellar looking work man, I know what you mean about projects, deadlines and sleeping a full night.
Chicken Skinner - neat project-maximus on the homestead, sounds like ya gotta be kind of a good camper to do a major remodel like that. way cool thanks for sharing.
hope everyone has a nice autumn!
gotta be my favorite time of year.

hey there raydog... say, as to projects, the trees sure do a great job, as to the leaf-coloring, huh?... here in michigan area, the sassafras, is usually the first to turn... it turns yellow, and then a gold type yellow... it shows through all the green woods very good... then the other trees, off and on, start joining in... not sure what is next... but sure do love thouse sasasfras!...

re: "the trees sure do a great job, as to the leaf-coloring, huh?"
there's kinda this big deal about driving up I70 to look at the Aspens when they start changing, it really is something.
don't know much about trees or stuff really, but that sassafrass, well it's sure got a pretty name...
here's the wiki
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sassafras
enjoy!

So all these high priced houses and properties these days.
It's still the same dirt on the ground and the trees are still the same.
Greedy fukin people. They are all stealing from nature and thinking their getting rich.

Its great to see all of your projects. Well, I'm aiming at making a coffee table photo book of the Sonoma Coast region. Amidst all the other work its a challenge to get it going. But some generous folks have offered to invest in it, and it needs to happen. So we'll see what happens.

hey there wbraun... say, my mom and i are on that agreeing-end in some ways,... we justs enjoy the simple home, ... her folks, in ohio, had a two story, but simple home, built into the wooded area--but her dad was in construction and was able to make a bid on it... way-s0-many years back...
with us--my dad had to get them a large enough house, of course, as there were 8 kids, one was adopted out, as a baby, so 7 kids, plus 2 adults... sure needed the house... but good ol' mom filled the yard WITH tons (wellllllllllll, not quite) of TREES... yep, she wanted the good earth to feed some beauty, as there of course, in san jose, were track-homes... she put in lots of plants, and tried to do her best to teach us to love nature--yet, she never preached (as most likely boys, being boys, would not have liked that)...but all of us went for the great outdoors, hook, line and sinker, so to speak, and not just to fish :), course, especially, mark!
yes, it is hard to see huge houses, taking over, i must admit... harder still, when lovely trees go down, for the count...(think they are trying to keep huge house out of willow glen, now too?)as those with smaller old house, have the sunlight literally blocked out...
still, there MUST be some kind of good that can come from some of the huge home projects, i hope... i would reckon it must depend on the family, and if they use their land well---course, i think most likely, you are refering to the companies, etc, that build continual, for money?....they have ruined much wonderful land...
i remember san jose, before it was silicon valley.. the orchards and little remnants of farm-type homes, and the chickens, and fresh eggs was wonderful... i missed that, as it all was "torn" up....saratoga, and los gatos, seemed to try to keep the land better...
well, wbraun, best wishes, too you for your projects that may come up... do you have any at the moment? ... are they with the rescue system, as i saw the post about the rescue on half dome?

hey there raydog.. say, thanks for the link.. i will go and see... and, i do remember hearing folks talk about the aspens, in colorado...
when i had a chance years back, i was able to ride through parts around here, to see the leaf-changing... but missed it these last few years... odd work hours, and no gas for car...
my newest projects is trying to find some better kind of work, to, while keeping up the novels,etc... i love to hear what other folks are doing, so i will be reading all these projects!!!!!
and i do love to hear about folks fixing a home to live in, as for so long i lived in a messed up shack.. was awful... in texas (though i loved texas)... here i finally got a kind of nice little place... lost the one house to divorce...
say, i want to see these pics of this house, here, by ken, when it is done.... god bless you little home, there, ken! :)
matt has been most likely fixing up his place... and i know mark had most likely had to fix his rentals down in south calif...
awwwwwwwwwwww, projects, good for the hard working soul... keeps a folk CREATIVE, when one is not out climbing, hiking, or loving nature's best, in a river, field, or watching some critter...

hey there raydog... oh, my... say, i was more meaning in the way of writing them... i just wrote four, and three short story volumes.. fiction... when i write, i dont read other stuff... so to keep my mind fresh.. etc...
say, your projects would include reading then... and most likely that's a sure way to tell which results have or have not been "gotten the hang of"... (is that what you meant?) (hope i understood that right)... what else do you read...
i mostly havent read much for the past 8-10 years... except for biographies...

hey there john... say, i was taking a better look at those pics, say, do you work in hawaii only, or live there too.... how is it as to the building codes there? do they want folks to keep buiding big homes, or not?...
the school looks very open and spacious, is this typical for private schools... seems it would cost a lots for such very nice looking wood... but it would be very nice for kids...
the reason that i am curious, is that a friend of mine, she has property there... and has a house that someone built for them... i think they rent it... i dont think it is very elaborate though... and i am not sure what island it is on...
after all that climbing, are you back to building in hawaii?
we used to visit lots of log cabins, in mich, that folks did up north.. i love them--they smell good inside, and the wood is nice...

hey there... say... wbraun... awww, sure hope that was meant well... as being new here, and not a climber, it sure helps to know that i am "treading" well, here....
hey, say, you are out and about, now :) ... most likely i should post this at the recue post, but i am not sure what the title was... but, say, how did the rescue folks know that those guys needing rescueing?
could they tell from folks reporting it? or were those guys able to call in? i was very curuious...
i suspose it is a "project" of sorts, right? ... so perhaps you could get away with sharing just a bit of how that came to pass... (i saw the other details, already, of couse...)

Hey there neebee, I remember.... Phil was the first person I knew who did Yoga. Can still picture him in the Parking lot- doing some serious Yoga moves.
Edit: Yes, Knew him a bit. He was friends with the folks -I hung around with. I was Lyndia Ballerini's friend and next door neighbor at the Annex Cabins.
