Not a climber, but a Dr.and good friend of many climbers-
Dr. Kevin Macmahon (55) of natural causes. Had it not been for Kevin, my climbing would have ended long ago.
R.I.P. all our climbing brothers and sisters.

Michael Strassman (7/1/07) died of heart failure due to meth. I am his sister, Judy York. Like most addicts, Mike denied he had a problem. What a waste of incredible genius and great climbing talent. We miss him greatly.

Updated OP with above names, and appended Mike's entry. I had heard about his cause of death but didn't feel right being the first to say it publicly. My condolences to his friends and family for the terrible loss.
Lets not forget our friends who made their final ascent last year:

Deb (Slevin) Lavender. Died in March of '07 of uterine cancer in Boulder. Colorado climber...pretty darn decent climber in her day, and even was moderately successful as a competitive climber in the early days of comps. For a while worked for Outward Bound, and even scored a cover photograph on "Outside Magazine", probably sometime in the mid to late 80's. Later worked successfully in real estate, did lots of nordic skiing, and raised a wonderful son, Stefan, who now lives with his dad Matt Lavender. Damn that cancer!

"In May 2007 Don achieved his great ambition of climbing El Capitan in Yosemite, and in September he ascended 'Lurking Fear' on Washington Column, also in Yosemite. In December , Don died at home, amongst his family and friends. An inspiration to us all."

What a beautiful thread... so sad
I cried when I read of Alex Lowe's death years ago.
I was with my dear aunty in Hawai'i she looked at me and said "why do you look so sad?"
I responded with "Aunty do you have friends or acquaintances that if God himself appeared and said, one of the two of you must go, but you must decide amongst the two of you.... that you would say to God, take me God, knowing that the other would have sooo much more to offer the world, their families and communities, than you?"
She shed a tear and said "only my two sons"
I hate this thread ...
I hope I make through the night with out... tooo late
Tears for Deb Slevin.
I have wondered often lately what it would be like to see her again?
I thought now that I am back into climbing the chances were inevitable.
Now the answer is inevitable.
I would've traded places with her.
My greatest aloha to her in heaven and her son and husband here.

All,
My heart breaks at the losses. My sincere condolences to all who have lost family and friends through this past year.
Even though I haven't climbed in awhile, I will always have a kindred spirit with all who hear the rock's call to climb. The loss, though not as traumatic as yours may be, nevertheless breaks my heart, yet touches me in such a way as to remind me of the JOY of climbing and the thrill it brings.
May those who have gone before have a great belayer, beautiful weather, bomber jams, perfect pro, and the most awesome route ever.

Wade- Can I get some more more details, or a link about Don? Age, cause of death, etc? Where was he from?
Thanks for the note on Deb. A sad loss.
Hopefully that's the end of the list for 2007.
Best wishes for 2008!
Go Easy.
-Jerry
