Yeah. And if you crop it judiciously, we'll also be able to see the faces even better when you scale it up. (Plus, if you crop it REALLY judiciously, we won't be able to see Waugh-zoo!)

Without people none of this would have any meaning.
There'd be no partners.
No rich tradition of routes.
No history.
No love.
No nothin'.
So I'm all about this thread.

What a crew.
L-R, BVB's Daughter Hanna, Rob Stahl & Daughter, Jocelyn Van Belle, Bob Van Belle, Kim Carpenter, Spencer Lennard.

Top L-R, Mike Graham, Johny Woodward, Kim Carpenter.
Bottom, L-R Dave Evans, Randy Vogel, Darrel Hensel.

Thanks all for contributing.
Rmuir- The one you missed is George Meyers, aka Jorge.
Peter- Magic! Much better now. Roger and Jorge, please burn the original.
Roy, you are right, the climbs are impressive, but the people are what is really memorable.
A group from Britain in 1977: Yank Gib Lewis in the foreground, 70’s Gritstone master Al Manson tied in, and I don’t recall the guys sitting down. Mick Ryan from UK Climbing, any help regarding the area (Stanage?), the climb or the others?

Hah, nothing I like better than getting in ahead of Mickfax!
Rick A – the picture you have posted from the UK is of Curbar Edge. The R facing corner-crack in the background is the Joe Brown classic Elder Crack, while the arête immediately to its left (not the skyline; just right of it) is the more recent Last Great Problem Elder Statesman, climbed by Steve McClure a couple of years ago after many attempts over the years by Britain’ best.
It’s a while since I’ve been there, but I’m pretty sure the climb your gear is in is Usurper E4 6a, which in 1977 would have been very recently put up by Nicky Stokes (if at all: I think actually it was maybe done that year). The crack the gear is in is pumpy but easy, then a rest beneath an overlap, then hard moves over it on flaring finger and other jams in blind cracks?
I don’t know who the climbers are – the chap with the long hair and bandanna looks a little like Andy Parkin, but a lot of people did in those days.
You know you are famous over here in our Llanberis Pass guidebook for your observation – ‘I got half way up your Right Wall and just ran out of gas’? I know how you felt – same thing happened to me.
Got any more?!

Roy-- per that pic of John Thacker, Kieth Cunning, Mike Lechlinski, and me circa 79-82 (actually '78), where'd you ever get that shot?? I weighed like 210 lbs. back then and it's a wonder I ever got my fat ass up anything.

Roy - your unknown blonde dude looks a little like Steve Amter who I knew in Tucson in 86-87, but the memory is a little blurry. I should nudge Grossman and see if he can confirm. Speaking of which, he's got to have some old Beanfest photos worth posting to this thread.

Largo,
That shot was posted by the Uplander, during the Stonemasters threads, but maybe in his own thread. We emailed each other a bit at the time, he told me who he was but I couldn't tie the name to a face. He chimed in with some pretty good stuff. I had a computer crash, lost the data and don't remember his name.
Off White,
That guy was in the meadows for just that one summer, or at least not a regular during the 80's. Steve sounds right.

Yes Ray, that really is the great Yaniro. Mind you, the great Wazoo and I were also seen taking a ride on that 5.7, but then we both did the 5.12 just to the left of it. Tony is recovering from a crushed foot.
