Slightly regrouping, how about the various nations? It's always risky to stereotype and generalize, and easy to do so negatively, but some countries and peoples are known for their climbing character, or the character of their climbers. (Add "climber" to each below, as needed.)

A stoutness of Sherpas.
A merriness of 'Merrycans.
A kaleidoscope of Californians.
A dialect of Scots.
An engagement of English.
An orchestration of orcas. (If they could climb. "Pod" is dull.)
A freedom of French.
A confustication of Canadians. (Tolkien's word.)

Anyone else? Slovenia, Basques, Norway, Italy, Germany, Japan, Chile, etc etc...

ps This is hilarious! Thank you!

In honour of tarbuster's marvellous recent "Rockies Ramble" thread:

A rambunctiousness of ridge ramblers.

The Norwegian word for this is "fjell rangling" or "tinde rangling". Fjell meaning mountain, tinde meaning peak, and rangling meaning (roughly) wandering.

Roy: Fjell rangler extraordinaire.
