L, you shouldn't oughta diss folks with a dog phobia, it's a pretty awful thing to suffer. A 12 year old friend of mine just goes to pieces when anything bigger than cat comes around. It isn't from any experience he had, but his fear is quite real nonetheless.

Off White--You're right about phobias, and that comment wasn't at all meant to dis people who really suffer from a dog phobia.
I don't think that's the case with gw--at least I didn't get a sense of that from his posts, which is why I made a joke of it. I believe he simply doesn't like dogs and is taking his dislike out inappropriately on a girl who could be suffering an enormous loss right now.

CATCH: Off-leash areas are a good place to find dogs and get a little exercise.
KILL: Depending on the size of the dog, you can wring its neck, shoot it through the head, or run over it with a van. Drain its blood as you would a cat's, and dismember as you would a rabbit.
COOK: Dog, a popular dish in China, is very versatile. To stir-fry dog, heat a small amount of oil in a wok. Cut dog into small cubes, then place in wok and brown evenly. When dog is brown, add chopped broccoli, snap peas, carrots, and soy sauce. Cover and let steam.
EAT: Serve with rice wine. Delicious!

GW ...
Hey, Pal ... I get that you're trolling and that you like to stir up sh#t. Cool. But, Christ ... don't do it if it causes pain to decent people. It doesn't make you cute, clever or witty ... just makes you a prick.

Been thinking of Oof all day. Good luck.

Melissa, sorry that you have been separated from Oofy; and having her for 17 years I'm sure that you got to know each other pretty well--maybe Oofy knew you too, and decided that she couldn't bear to see you watch her slip away in your arms, so she left to make her peace and allowed you to always have her memory close by. Dogs have strong feelings, too, and I can see myself in her place when she took an opportunity to dignify herself.

gw, all of your negative stupid-ass comments got me distracted from the original thread post. If one removes all of your diatribe, then the picture (and posts) become much clearer. I have never had a pet, and am not psyched when they are at the rock (for safety's sake), but I don't verbally rape those that do. Quit whining, go climbing.

Aww, just saw this. Best wishes to her.
Even if it doesn't turn out good or she never is found, I think the good energy from the pet cemetery from all those well-loved animals will see her through a safe passage.

Any word yet on the dog?
Last night Russ Walling posted a thread (now gone) showing that this jerk "gw" is really that jerk "A. Crowley."
Shame on you, Mr. Crowley or whatever your name is! No wonder people don't like you!

I don't know how this will end, perhaps with sadness, but I couldn't help but smile reading about the obviously well-loved Oofy who's had such a good life.

If you can judge from this forum, climbers often have lucky dogs ... invited to share some of the outdoors things we think are so cool about life. Matt's comment awhile back hit that note right.

Off the Couch--the creature known as gw is not Crowley. Good grief girl, just look at the type of posts each puts up. gw is a thoughtless, cruel, uninformed creep who thinks it's fun to hurt people who are suffering a loss. I don't think he's even a climber...and God save us if he is.
Crowley, on the other hand, is opinionated and does get into pissing matches and name-calling, but if you look at the tenor of his posts, he has some pretty damn interesting stuff. I think you and LEB are confusing the degradation of the threads to the actual beginning content.
And Russ, whom I adore, was fabricating the connection between the thing known as gw and Crowley because, in my opinion, he's sick of the politics.
Bump for Oofy!!!
