Dumping again today!!! Hoping the snow stays deep for my 2nd attempt at the high route through SEKI this spring.
Recently started snowboarding with the kids but so not a backcountry tool.
Get a splitboard, it’s so fun! Ya, changeovers are 90 seconds slower, but I’m a noob and can do 20 mile day trips so it’s not the least efficient thing ever.

Today was a break between storms. I got a little ski touring in and the crew tried to reduce the snow load on our roofs before the next storm. Today almost all roof shovelers are hired by businesses that have workman's comp insurance. I'm sure there are a lot of people here who used to work for $20-35 an hour under the table.
When I had my mountaineering store in Mammoth (1980-1985) we probably sold more ropes and harnesses to roof shovelers than climbers.

^^^So glad I built with a 12/12 pitch, standing seam metal and a yearly spray down of Rain-X.

Mouse, where’d you get that webcam shot? That is most definitely not a recent shot. Big rocks showing that normally are well covered during an average year.

Ah, copy. I think that’s just a webpage banner shot. I posted a photo earlier in this thread that shows the same part of the mountain in the winter of ‘83, at a time with a snowpack similar to what is there today. Compare and you’ll see.
Still, that’s a beautiful scene.

it's easy to say "most snow in the hemisphere" when there's no snowgauge or ways to measure in the areas that really do get the most snow, like the Ha-iltzuk Icefield....
