Thanks all for the kind words, music morale boosters.

“Clinically” I’m feeling pretty good. Just getting blood and tests to catch up.

The crux appears that a gastroenteritis virus managed to get into my blood stream, probably via a UTI which then created havoc. Blood tests also revealed a strep virus in the blood. Different from the throat one. The disease doc has tailored my IV antibiotic to the good ole pencillin family. They want to limit as much as possible killing off the good stuff in my digestive system as that presents another whole host of issues. So, the penicillin family appears to be one that can help address my illness while mitigating side effects. Every three hours round the clock a new bag.

I was slated to go home tomorrow but today they found I’m shedding a highly contagious virus. So I’m kinda in isolation now...basically visitors have to mask, glove and gown up. I’m not in a bubble or on a different floor. It doesn’t appear to be a huge deal and is probably the original cause of my gastroenteritis.

So I’ve reached peak boredom, miss my doggie and what did we do before iPads? Hospital food is still hospital food, although they put a flower on the plate. Unbelievable wonderful hospital support staff, and as usual maybe 5 minutes with the docs. However they seem very on top of everything and I get my questions written down in advance and I stand in the doorway while I ask them. I think they’re on to me.

My first night here I thought the people on this floor were really really sick. Much more than me. The few I’d see in the hallway could barely move as they clung with death grips to their walkers. I found out many on this floor are joint replacement patients.

Thanks all...I’m on the mend!

That's so funny that you perceived the joint replacement patients were waiting for the chop.

They used to say: Humor is the best medicine. Maybe the contagious poster is "hospital code" for "This one wants to ask questions instead of just trusting the docs.... Stay away!!!"

I’m Out

Ten days of oral antibiotics, no PICC line. I’m free to move about the world...more or less...considering I have very little spooze to do anything.

Thanks again for your kind thoughts and wishes.
