Sorry Riley,
it just goes to St George, still 50+ miles to Springdale (hundred plus dollar cab ride? cheaper to rent a car).

I never would have realized this if we hadn't had a tight squeeze for time one year to get to a friend's wedding, but you can often fly (United or Delta) pretty reasonably right into St. George. Of course, extra cheap fairs are usually available for Vegas that make it cheaper to do the extra bit of driving, but if you're paying full fare for Vegas it's worth checking out.

Kind of already explained that Melissa. Its via Skywest (AKA "Scarewest") which does NOT fly Vegas to St. George.

Those on a tight budget should just fly to Vegas or SLC and carpool.

Admittedly, I did not read 50 posts worth of people's Sushi preferences. Sorry.

I wasn't saying that you should try to fly from Vegas to St. George. My point was that you can presently fly into St. George for $30 bucks less than full fare on SW to Vegas. It's worth checking out if time is tight or you missed out on the cheap vegas fares.

But thats only if you're coming in via SLC, Phoenix, etc.

Ouch! (not that ouch....) St. George sure ain't cheaper from NYC!!!

I checked and nonstop to LV is $303(base price plus taxes and crap) and trhe St. George has no nonstop, and was $505(plus taxes and crap).

Not that I would go that route anyway..... I am just ansty for a trip and even though this one is far, far, farrrr away, I checked to feel like I was actually going to be traveling.

3 months and change - too far away. I wish I could afford to go somewhere in Feb.

(p.s. I am eating sushi as I type this....not as good as Nature's sushi, of course. Can't wait!)

Consider it a deal Happie. At this time, from STL, it's 280 to Las Vegas (plus taxes and other assorted costs). And heck, STL is half way there! It'll be worth it though...

Couple years back I had no ride out of the Valley and checked fares back to Cedar City. Greyhound was like $120 one way. I said what the schnykies, let's check airfare. Fres-yes/SLC/Cedar: $108 baby! (Plus $50 haulbag baggage shaft. Doh!)

Then again, 17 hours on a Greyhound that visits Fres-yes, Bakersfield, Barstow AND Vegas...priceless.

PS: Check yer email, Seahawk boy.

The $300(plus) fare is not an issue, though it is a bit higher than I expect. I am not purchasing the ticket now anyway. Will probably do so in the next month or so.

I was just giving an example of the difference on price between going into LV and the other place. And, of course, the layover "adds" to the price of a ticket, in my opinion. I know that for many places, layovers are unaviodable, but one of the "perks" of NYC is direct flights to so many destinations.

Ikura topped (possibly) with Black Tobiko (or Black Beluga "caviar"... unsure of species of origin without tasting/crunching, ymmv,) ( I love Wasabi Tobiko!) Ebi, Hamachi (or Hokkigai, not sure which, leaning toward hamachi but possibly something entirely else) nice presentation with Shiso rosette, & lemon slices, Yuppi-Maki (CA Rolls with imitation Kani)...

Nice Daikon sprouts, too! not to mention the shredded Daikon bed for the rosette!

"As the frogs say... the first taste is with the eyes..."
Hmmm... seems to me that frogs have awfully long, sticky tongues, and the eyes are primarily for depth perception to aim the tongue... otoh, I guess that makes the statement correct... If the eyes can't taste it, the tongue never will!

nevermind....

Brutus

edited to add: Apologies if the kani is real... Hard to tell from this distance...

I will be flying in from DC. The fares to LV look cheapest (~$225). If we coordinated the arrival we could probably share the cost of renting a larger vehicle (bronco or something similar) and it would come out to be similar to the shuttle cost and have room for the amount of gear some of us will have. I think I get discounts with most rental companies through work.
