Lois

Sorry you hear you suffer from "depression." I have some friends who are very intelligent and compassionate and yet get tortured by their brain chemistry.

Some have tried all the meds and the side effects and withdrawal are terrible.

If you are able to cover two bases at once (dog sex and depression) I would LOVE it if you could share any wisdom on managing this problem as I have found that those who suffer from it themselves have the most motivation and insight into how to cope.

Peace

No way. I'm serious. When you care about people, you hate to see them suffer.

You can start another thread about it if you like. I just thought that because you suffered yourself and was on top of the medical field you might have some unique insight.

But hey, it's 11.24 here and 2.24 pm in the morning there. Maybe you're getting bleary eyed? It can certainly wait for another day.

Peace

Thanks Lois I guess I had misread your previous post

""Sadness" (as you define it) is chemically induced and it is a real hindrance to those so afflicted. They have low serotonin levels at the neuronal synapses. It does not affect their intellect any but it affects their moods and it can be very burdensome. Whether or not one is a problem solver is unrelated to his or her serotonin level but those afflicted with what you call "sadness" (i.e. low serotonin levels) have a harder way to go then others who do not have this problem.

PS I am "one""

I thought you meant you were one of the folks suffering.

LEB said: "Karl, Are you drunk right now?" Ah, so you're both compassionate AND "spiritual," as you say. Isn't this sort of like stooping to MY level, LEB?

I think because it was 2:20 AM, LEB MEANT to add, "Not that there's anything wrong with that."

Hippie Redneck: Nice talk. I'm sure you meant to add, "not that there's anything wrong with that." Keep it up, you're making me look good.

Radical: put the hammer down and get back to work.

I think it's a Charlie Brown reference, Crimpie.

Thanks for the clarification on the earlier post. My lack of tv watching for a lifetime is again apparent.

LEB - Yes, I've been busy traveling to locations and giving job talks over the last month or two. I was in DC last week for this. Sorry to have missed any tacostanders while there. Burns promises to come over next time he sees me in the gym there! All have gone well. As you well know, academic job searches take months. I expect to hear more information in the coming months and make a decision.

Lois, is (para(?))haldol appropriate for multiple personality disorders or more for psychotics? Serious question, and it's not for me.

Look.

Ouch! may not be that good at photoshop but I don't think it's appropriate for you to call him a tardive.

Especially seeing as how you're a medical professional.

I think it's Lois's way of saying "retard", but I'm not a doctor.

Hey, why am I explaining this to myself?
Ouch!

Turd, admit it. You enjoy intelligent conversation with a peer.

I admit it.

It's just that I never win these conversations with myself.

OK. sometimes I do.

Every time I think I know what's going on here, I am again mystified.
