I'm not so sure about this concept of a candidate who is totally "independent", instead of the product of a party.

Here, have some more SOMA and take a nap. Good Grief.

Bob,
Things remain about the same. Very little support for Trump, more for Hillary (surprising for a forum with 99% male membership). A lot of support for "none of the above" and a few who can't tolerate political discussions on a climbing forum. They seem to have a high tolerance for threads about songs, the Mind, religion, dogs, flames and just about anything that doesn't involve the fate of the planet.
So relatively speaking, was that a compliment or a request for censure?
Hey I leave your fool threads alone, and with respect, I am only an interloper when the dust has settled down, but I know a clown V's A Hitler
&
I do not think we could have found worse representatives than Hillery & Donald.

That someone wants to try to equate 1932 Germany to this moment is a far stretch.
Now if you go to the state of affairs just after WWII,
when a small Russia became the worlds disaster,
then you might find some equivalence. The new threat is the old one

the republican party is running out of angry white people to vote for them along with African Americans and Hispanics.

And yet, the Republicans have 54 Senate seats and 247 House seats.

Hi Jody, Ted Cruz may be extremely, repulsively conservative to a lot of people

but I agree with you, he showed some real principle refusing to endorse Trump

Ted Cruz is the most principled person in politics. He went way up in the respect department after sticking it to the fraud.

I'm not sure it was all that impressive Jody. Cruz tried to make it "clear" afterward that he'd done it because the nitwit had insulted his family.

I would have been impressed and said so (even though I can't stand him) if he'd done what he did while making it absolutely clear that he'd done it on principle.

Still, comparing Cruz' handling of Trump to how say, Paul Ryan did things....

One thing that this process tends to do, is weed out the truly crazy and sociopathic players. It guarantees that a person has experience working in the political world, with the skillset needed to succeed. There is a lot of time to test a person's patriotism, beliefs of religion in gov't, concepts of intrusiveness of gov't.

Trump is an excellent example of what occurs outside of that. No serious person would think that you could take someone with no business experience, and make them CEO of General Motors. But a lot of people trust him to "do something" and they don't care what it is.

Barely a week into the general election we have new evidence Trump will attack anyone based only upon what is going on in his head. And that he is unable to accept criticism. Since these are serious limitations for a president, we can assume there will be many more such incidents. A question.

What happens when Trump withdraws his candidacy? Pence becomes the candidate by default?

When the election has subtracted even more from the estimated value of his "trademark", his net worth will take losses. Things will start to get really serious.

Crooked Hillary Clinton received a dreaded 'four-Pinocchio' rating from the Washington Post – the worst score possible for truthfulness – after claiming on Sunday that the FBI defended her honesty in the classified email scandal that has plagued her presidential campaign for more than 16 months.

And exactly where would you put Trump, by comparison of honesty?

Trump is unencumbered by a knowledge of facts. He's also had a successful filterectomy.

His personal battle with the Khan family is simply one more overwhelming piece of evidence of his disqualification from the office, but the press is playing right along. As long as they focus on Chump's ungentlemanly behavior rather than his complete lack of policy, he has a chance of hanging on to voters unwilling to support Clinton. If, instead, the press concentrated on his lack of policy - or its rejection of conservative principles - much of his support would melt and either sit the election out, or vote for Johnson.

Even more interesting that 9 out of the 10 very worst years in your chart were under Republican presidents.

For the second part of the show, please demonstrate how it is that a President determiens the growth of real GDP?

Hint: You might start with imaginary GDP.

Show your work.

I had lost track of the efforts to ban Russia's Olympic team for their chemical cheating.

Here's tonight's update on Trump's buddies.

Russia had hoped to send 387 competitors to Rio and more than 100 have so far been banned from going.
Russian teams affected by Rio bans
Among those excluded are 67 out of 68 from the athletics team; long-jumper Darya Klishina will compete as a neutral.

Some international federations have banned Russians from competing altogether, some have issued a partial ban, while others have cleared all Russians to take part. Others still are yet to decide.

Russia's President, Vladimir Putin, said there was a "deliberate campaign targeting" Russian athletes.

He said medals won in Rio would be devalued by the absence of Russian competitors, telling the Russian team "the other sportsmen understand that the quality of their medals will be different".
