Wow Susan, based on that second photo, I'd say that guy has a hell of an off width coming his way...

Hey, you posted the picture.... :)

Anybody get a good deal on the wrong size Exum Guides? I have a pair of mint 10s that are just a bit tight. Do you have a pair of 10.5s that are too roomy?

Figured I would reach out before trying "aggressive break in" strategies.

I am in Truckee if there is a chance to meet and avoid further online shoe buying nonsense..

I ordered. The same size I ordered last year. No shops around here sell 5.10 approach ahoes.

Not totally satisfying as they seem to forgot to ship a pair my shoes. They are supposedly two daying them now.

^ mike m, they forgot to ship a pair I ordered as well, and are waiving shipping on them. I did get 3 pairs so far that fit well.

Chim-Chim - here in San Francisco there are NO shops that sell approach shoes. Its like trying to find a good ski boot fitter or AT gear in this city/Bay area - forget about it. I know what my sizes are for Five Tens though, and do my other sizing via the internet, shipping back and forth, it it doesn't fit. I just sent back some Sportiva Gandas that were too small.... one more order and I might have the size nailed down at last.

I agree that trying stuff out and picking brains at the local shop, and then ordering online, while savvy, is a little bit like theft of services. I used to work in a backcountry/nordic ski shop every winter, and when that Telemark-Pyrenees-dot-whatever came out, undercutting US retail prices by A LOT, it felt like that was turning into everybody's standard M.O. It also felt like it was going to be the end of retail.

I've never had 5.10s, but thought this deal was a bit too good to pass on, so I just went with street shoe sizing on the tennies. They fit well. I picked up a couple of pairs of 2012 models, so it felt like a reduce/re-use/recycle kinda thing. Seemed like most of these were older models, no? Since we're going into 2015, these online closeouts seem like a great way to match buyers with older inventory that might otherwise languish.

I tried to push it down half a size on the lace up anasazis, now I feel like a cinderella. Foot goes to sleep in about 5 mins. I guess they will be my PROJ sendin shoes! Those V2s in the gym will GO DOWN THIS YEAR!

Dan k. I know my 5.10 size, thanks to buying my first pair of camp 4's retail. I agree that it's a DOUCHEbag move, but you never know. You could end up buying something else in the shop just cause you walked in the door..

downsize from your street shoe size? my anasazi laceups are my street shoe size (us 10, i wear 9.5/10 street shoe depending on brand) and i could've gone down a half size. my feet sort of swim a bit in them but they still edge really well. i was saving them to be my tech-edging shoe but they got relegated to "all-around" duty which makes me feel like i'm driving a ferrari on a dirt road.

I bought my wife and I guide tennies via amazon, the shipping ends up being a bit cheaper and Five Ten is still the seller.

I go to stores to try on shoes, but I've only found a few climbing shops that carry size 14 shoes. . .Also this is a great time to buy the guide tennie since they fvcked up the design this year (unless you like HUGE toeboxes, and sh!tty glue jobs).

Good to hear it's busy Dan! Hope the numbers are adding up for ya!

I did a bunch of local shopping today, because it was convenient, timely, and still decently priced. I'm happy to support local merchants if i can do so but money doesn't grow on trees these days either...

Grrrr,,, I was waiting until I had the cash for shes, gas and a visit to the bead store in Redlands, and intended to go tomorrow. But the offerings on the website are greatly reduced from when this thread started.

I was hoping for a pair of the red Sirens, but looks like they're all sold.

Does anyone familiar with the shop know if they DO keep everything current on the website? I am sure I will still make the trip, but it would feel better if I thought I had a chance of getting a good-fitting pair of shoes when I do.

Happie, from my experience the website is not necessarily up to date. I've ordered shoes that appeared to be in stock on the site, but were on "backorder", and since the shoes were no longer being made there were none.

Give them a call and ask about availability for what you are looking for - (909)798-4222. Good luck!
