Thanks for the predictable input. I could've written most of those posts with my eyes closed.

The biggest complaint appears to be that old chestnut about "If you don't won't to hear negative comments then don't' post"

If there was no way to delete the threads, then I would agree with that comment The fact that I CAN Delete means that I have an option to delete. Why else would that option exist.

Lets also remember that regardless of my comments being forever "out there" on the web, someone consciously brought it back for the sole purpose of sh#t stirring.

Anything goes, right?

Not True, some months ago I started a thread with the name Brad Jarrett. I was immediately admonished on supertopo for breaking it's "protocol" (Apparently, a thread that leads with a name implies that they are dead)I didn't know that so apologized profusely.

As this example clearly shows Supertopo does have it's Ethics, Protocol or whatever you want to call it.

So lets have some consistency around these protocols instead of the self centered elasticity of there current application.

Avery, step out of the box, relax and roll with the punches. This is fun, not some set of tasks on a flippin contract.

I take your point survival, but it still does not alter the fact the questioned was posed because my deleted thread was resurrected. No resurrection, no obvious question. It's not rocket science.

As you all by know, I've been heavily criticized for being too serious and too earnest with my threads. In the past I've backed down and put an end to the collective suffering of supertopians by deleting my threads.

That, it appears, is no longer an option. So your stuck with me.

Forward your congratulations to one "Norwegian"

I agree that I should be able to dump a thread if I feel like it, but many don't like it. As though their smart ass replies are so precious that they can't stand to see them go!

The same can be said to the folks who are throwing barbs at Avery. It's just a forum. If you want your brilliant thoughts to be kept public forever, put them someplace where the author has no control over deleting threads.

As Zappa said "Who gives a f*#k anyway?"

Often we see the peanut gallery TELLING people to delete lame threads, but when they do, someone else bitches about it!

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Thanks everybody, as you know I don't agree with a lot of what you say, but that's life, is it not?

You'll hear nothing more from me on this thread, that's it.

I could always delete it, but.......

... he was covered with five pies worth of used blueberries. The women in the audience screamed. Bossman Bob Cormier took one look at Bill Travis and barfed on Principal Wiggins, who barfed on the lumberjack that was sitting next to him. Mayor Grundy barfed on his wife's tits. But when the smell hit the crowd, that's when Lardass' plan really started to work. Girlfriends barfed on boyfriends. Kids barfed on their parents. A fat lady barfed in her purse. The Donnelley twins barfed on each other, and the Women's Auxiliary barfed all over the Benevolent Order of Antelopes. And Lardass just sat back and enjoyed what he'd created-a complete and total barf-o-rama!

Why don't all you guys post your own thread? Then you can all go wanking till your hearts content, what's more, you won't have to go through the mind numbing process of rehashing one of mine.

I delete my threads because I'm finished with them. I don't won't to see them come back. Is that plain enough, or do you need a few beers to clear your heads.

For some threads it's downright rude to resurrect them. People start a thread due to some emotional low point, or it takes an ugly turn and euthanasia is the only, hopefully final, solution.

On the other hand "Information wants to be free" ; sometimes the greater good is served by recovering a gold nugget that someone buried because in producing it, they made themselves look like a dork, or otherwise revealed somehing of their true nature, they would rather not have shared.

That sh#t is fair game!

It's always going to be a case by case situation, and there are always going to be toes stepped on.

I think there is a karmic rule of thumb dealing with the integrity of, and respect due to, the OP. Sometimes we spare our friends embarrassment, and sometimes people just have to lay in the grave they've dug for themselves.

The people today who remember Roger Ramjet are dieing off. As a paleontologist by training, I value the importance of keeping some history current, to learn from!!

Take the roger ramjet theme song, they used a public domain tune, and paired it with dumb, but catchy lyrics that I can recite from Memory fifty years later.all to sell General Mills cereal.

Then, In the eighties, that lame as Barney, Barney, stole the whole thing due to a total lack of originality, and having no scruples about manipulating children to make money in an infinitely more decadadent and cynical business model!

So who would win in a fair fight? Avery or Norwegian?

Avery's pretty loud. Might get a technical win in a debate, but Weedge would just blow eveyone's mind with some surrealistic prose.

I think hand to hand, the Norwegian would... well, kick your ass. But, in reality probably something unspeakable (not permanently damaging, just permanently humiliating.)

Deleting your threads is unethical. It steals the voice from other contributors.

Think twice and post right.
