Bottom line, Patrick was just trolling, and probably should have done it on another thread.
Damn it Coz, I don't consider it a troll. I was just trying to have bit of fun and banter.
I will not make that mistake again.
My name is who I am. I'd nuke this thread but, that probably would not be the right thing to do. The right thing is to just not make this mistake again.

I sent Chief a civil email trying to explain that I was not Pat Ament and that I was just trying to be frivolous.
He emailed me back saying that I should torch this thread. I am beginning to think…
What do you people think? Should I nuke or hope it dies a death down the pages?

Two emails say to nuke three say to keep.
I regret starting this thread, should I regret nuking it? Gawd, I have far more important things to do. Let's just have it die a death way, way down the pages.
That said, I will not nuke as I want eKat and others to know that The Chief was way off base thinking Pat Ament = Patrick Sawyer. I have always admired and like Kath.since C4 days, her email function is disabled, so keeping this thread alive may allow her and others I appreciate to know that I try and to be sincere and the The Chief should be put in the brig (ha ha, just kidding Chief) for his wild conjecture that the very mature Pat Ament is also the very immature Patrick Sawyer.
Shame on you Chief, no rum rations for you. ;-)

It's disheartening to see how rapidly this thread degenerated into a cat fight and seriously questionable "outing".
How long did it take? 1st reply? 4th? 6th?

Ahhh yes, the thoughtful consideration, analysis and reasoned debate of the World Wide Wasteland.
But enough of my own venting. Let's have a look at the quoted lyrics, which I presume were meant ironically (or sadly, perhaps not).

None of this has been true in the ensuing 45 years.
We have largely failed at attempts to be watchdog of the world. Starting of course with the contemporaneous Vietnam War which we now recognize as a terrible waste of national treasure and lives.
Remember the "Domino Theory"? Very possibly not.
"If South Vietnam falls to the Communists next will come Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, the Philippines maybe even Australia and India. We'll be DOOMED!"
Let's not get into Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya as we have no idea how they will ultimately turn out. Certainly not as rosily as we had hoped.
The Soviet Union collapsed from within and no missiles have been hurled. Although only by some very good luck and a few Americans and Soviets really hesitant to "push the button". Including the last days of the Cuban Missile Crisis when the Soviet sub B-59 2nd in command who vetoed the launch of a nuclear torpedo when they thought they were under attack from the US Navy.
As the conservative philosopher George Santayana most famously said:

Both your handle here and your email back to me gives no clue who you are. Not that I really want to know or care. So who is the honest one, eh Chief? Are you the one hiding behind an avatar, a handle? I suppose for someone like you it may be handle, uh, handy, to hide yourself.
