I agree, the person names go better with the route names, if people want to check their FAs.
I have such a list on my site, but I haven't updated the public version for awhile.
I suspect Ed and I have mostly just used the lists on this thread to fix spelling errors.

I guess Pep Masip (Silvia Vidal's partner in Sargantana) isn't in the list.
And the real first surname of Gallego Bros. (Carlos Gallego, Javier Gallego, Jose Luis Gallego, Juan Carlos Gallego and Miguel Angel Gallego) is García. So they should be called García Gallego Bros. since in Spain the first surname comes from the father and the second one comes from the mother ( not exactly now because you can invert the order since the law changed 10 years ago), but as García is a very common surname, they are known as Gallego...

Frankly, such a list seems pointless to me.
There are so many names, who cares?
Inevitably you will leave someone out.
The list has had its intended affect, that is, to have people propose corrections. For instance, some very prominent Czech climbers had had their names mangled for years because of the simple migration of the text from one text editor to another where the special characters didn't transfer... an additional problem in this case was the inversion of first and last names, which apparently was undetectable to editors who read in US English.
Getting the correct name is also important, at least for those named, and honoring the conventions, such as García Gallego, is easy once you know what is proper...
Leaving people out may be a choice if those people want to be left out, but if they don't know they aren't in, well it isn't a choice.
right now the guidebook is a "Trad Daddy" concept, that is, as close to the original esthetic as possible. The idea is to provide a minimal pictorial description of routes in the form of "drawn" topos a la the original Meyers issue, using as little written description as possible. This opens up the guide to the largest group of potential users, independent of language.
That being said, modern book layouts are very malleable, so once the "Trad Daddies" are satisfied, there is a likelihood that more spinoffs of the project are possible. But let's get to the end first!

Clint, Paul Fida is a misspelling of Paul Fiola, and Steve "Roadie" is Steve Seats, both on Ed's list.

boulder problems are "Trad Daddy" too... except the rocks have cooled a bit since Gill first danced over them...
ever been over at the Wood Lot bouldering area? or the Ahwahnee Hotel? the grinding holes are evidence that the first people were familiar with the boulders before knit beenies and pads were the rage... can you think of little kids not crawling over those boulders?

There is great power in having a name and knowing another's name. This is an ancient concept. Going back even to Odysseus who, when the giant Polyphemus (aka Cyclops) asked his name, Odysseus answers οὔτις ("nobody"). I was a trick on the giant one one level, but has meaning on multiple others as well.
Recognizing names and getting them right is very important. Who are you if not your name and all it represents?
Thanks for doing diligence here!

Rivet hanger and Urmas - thanks for the corrections.
I had Pep Masip's name misspelled as Mesip. This was from an old spreadsheet on this site (yo_walls.xls).
But it was spelled correctly in later versions of the sheet and on the topo.
Good thing you noticed.
Kevin,
There will be overlay and action/historic photos, like in the previous Reid guides.

I'm so late to this thread, but just found it. but for the record, Eric Ahola, Paul Moss, Vern Muhr, and I did FA of west face of Mt. Watkins, "Never too late to Rappel," 5.8, III, back on 7/3/77. Never reported it. don't know how Clint discovered and added names to FA list of Ahola, Moss, Muhr, long time valley climbers.

I'm always having my last name confusedly spelled worng, Clint.
It is Bermingham = Bermingham. Thanks.
There is only one 'eye' in Bermingham.
It's due a physical trait called Stigmatism.
Amazingly, it runs in the Bomz family, too.

Roy,
This thread is an old version of Ed's list.
I am also maintaining a separate list, and we will compare both to make sure the info and spelling are good in the book.
(Thanks for the spelling correction - I had it wrong).
527 Wicked Jones Crusher 5.10b Dimitri Barton, Roy McClenahan, 4/1986
1461 Guide's Route 5.6 R/X Roy McClenahan, 1986
2774 Wicked Gravity 5.12c *** Dimitri Barton, Roy McClenahan, Ron Kauk, 1989
2775 Bucket Brigade 5.11d *** Dimitri Barton, Roy McClenahan, 1989
Brian,
I had your name spelled incorrectly also - thanks for the fix.
Here are the routes I have for you:
238 The Stigma p2-3 A3 Dennis Miller, Brian Bermingham, 1970
1178 Nutty Buddy 5.8 Brian Bermingham, Dave Bircheff, 1972
(The above are from a 2011 version of my list; I recall fixing the spelling for Bermingham in the meantime, but I don't have the current list with me at the moment).
