I think that equator marker was mis-spelled.
I think it supposed to be
Ay Caramba!
Hope you're having fun. Godspeed!

Rode my bike to 16,000 feet elevation this morning on the shoulder of Chamborazo (highest mountain in Ecuador). (since my camera was stolen, and my tablet c#m camera broke, I am resorting to stealing images off the internet. lol That and asking complete strangers to take a picture of me and email it to me. The results of this second tactic are yet to be realized. ha ha)

photos a few weeks old. taken by a friendly tourist. :) and finally forwarded....
this is the end of the road at about 16,000 feet on the shoulder of Chimborazo in central Ecuador.
I'm in Peru now. Heading up and down over a hell of a lot of steep and rocky mountain roads. ha

met two 20 something girls last night, who are biking northward on basically my route. We exchanged maps and tips and stories. ha They've been on the road for 4 months, starting in southern Bolivia. No big troubles to date, though I do worry about them. And they are both riding old beater bikes. I admire that. I'm on a $1200 Surly which is a beautiful and dependable bike, but is also always a worry. But then my bike is cheap compared to what some of the Euros are riding on this trip. Like $5000 plus custom touring bikes. I couldn't sleep with that much bling on my neck. ha

Rolhoffs are overrated according to those who actually use them. A seal blows out and you are stuck for three weeks while you send your wheel back to Germany for rebuild. Ha
Road side camp at 11,000 feet. Getting close to the Cordillera Blanca.
