Pretty much this^^. All the facts of the actual thread are lost in here somewhere. Got my court date extended, gonna swing by and show em my pass. Long story short I got a last minute court notice after waiting for correspondence on this ticket for 5 months. Never had to wait so long for a ticket to show. I was never whining about the ticket.

BTW does the regular "annual pass" (that you get for $80 from Yosemite for instance) work at Lovers Leap parking lot? I'm even more confused by the different naming / types of passes now after some of the above comments.

The "America the Beautiful" Annual pass ($80 pass that you can get in yosemite) can be used in most federal lands regardless of agency.
http://store.usgs.gov/pass/annual.html
Where can I use my Annual Pass?
Please contact a site directly if you have a question about pass acceptance and fees.
The Forest Service, the National Park Service, Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, and Bureau of Reclamation honor the Annual Pass at sites where Entrance or Standard Amenity Fee(s) are charged.

well now everybody's got their grouch on and some gave some background on the leap lot but SERIOUSLY here folks.. Does the whole bureaucracy of public lands management NOT look like a hugely engorged TICK? More fees and more fines to support more and more staff and infrastructure to collect more fees and demand more fines to support more staff and infrastructure etc etc. We who pay income tax have already paid a thousand times over for public land and the management of it. Where does the idea originate that the park or forest service can sell back to us our own land on a fee for use basis?
Long live the Dirtbag, a fine American tradition, and a political verb.

BuhdaStalin let me get this straight you were once a dirtbag but now that you have a good job and all you want everybody to play by the rules that you shirked? If so that makes you a hypocrite. Most dirtbags I know don't try to have everybody else pay their share. They call themselves dirtbags because they admire the people who were able to live that lifestyle (take me for example I admire the hippy generation). By the way I'm 40 and dare I say you seem to be a jerk but that's my opinion. Oh and by the way Crasic could be putting himself through school without any of our help--I did.
Peace Eric

Hey, thanks for posting! Youre right, I am a huge as#@&%e! I went to school on loans and grants, despite coming from a rich family, and balked on my loans! I have illegitimate children all over the country, Im voting for Romney and I stomp on baby squirrels everywhere I go! I park my hummer in 2 spots everywhere and street race in schoolzones! Boy, youve really got my number!
You know exactly jack squat about me and when I made what decision in my life. For instance, I pulled my head out of my ass and realized that 'freedom isnt free' long before I got my education and real job. Thanks for the shot-in-the-dark hypocrite remark though, foul-tip....
If you had read any of the thread, you'd know how mr crasic is funding his school for instance. Lets not start again with the whole romantic dirtbag lifestyle hippie thing. Seriously, it makes my heart heavy and my prostate weak and I think it may make me lose bowel control.
What the f*#k is the matter with you? Are you up past your bedtime? Thanks for the inflammatory post, your reading comprehension is as shitty as your attitude. Your assumption powers need a tune-up. You dont have it straight. You are a moron and a jackass for your post, especially with the ironic signature of 'peace'.
Guess again.
No peace for you, dirtbags and hippies are a scourge.

I wasn't mean to you in the slightest. I asked a question--were you a dirtbag before getting a good job? If so I still say you are a hypocrite. I don't think it is fair to come down on young people doing their best to get an education AND have some fun recreation in their free time. You seem to angry at my post. Does the truth hurt? If not what are you so angry about? A $75 ticket. For what it is worth I don't like the fact you were cited. I think YOU and I pay enough in taxes. I'm sorry if I pissed you off, take it easy.

People like you piss me off. You post inflammatory sh#t, then try to come off innocently and when someone gets angered you try to take some nonexistent higher ground. People have been missing the point and shitting in this thread all day.
Im not angry at your post, I think you are a stupid as#@&%e.
Go ahead and think about me what you will, if there was a way I could possibly care less, I would. Sure, I'm a hypocrite, whatever lets you sleep at night. You have definitely missed the point, and the gangbang for that matter, just know that when I go take a crap in a few minutes here, it will mean more to me than your opinion, which is a wild stab.

Wow I don't even know this Stalin!
What is with the high horse buddy? You come off like a total dick here. Of course climbers try to avoid paying entry, camping fees, stay over various stay limits etc. Nothing new here. Get off the high horse. It appears you get pissed at anyone that uses the term dirtbag in conversation.

My BM was great, gigantic, and had no more odor than a fresh, hot biscuit. My predicament really isnt one, I was more wondering if they way they handled my ticket was SOP based on others' experiences. I thought my OP was pretty clear. But alas, people fixate on what they wanna fixate on, then they run with it like a retard with a popsicle.
Your post though Jeebus, i think you need some coffee. I dont understand it.

People are so proud to be thinking of themselves as dirtbags. I liken it to punk rock, they have both truly been dead for a long, long time. Now its fashionable, just like PBR. I do hate the term, its as played out as any other hipster crap, but for the love of beer and heavy cream, read the goddamn thread. Everyone chimes in prematurely, furthering the trainwreck.
People are not behaving well, so I must take the actions.

BuddhaStalin people like you piss me off. You are part of the "I got mine f*#k you crowd". You admit that you were an idiot who didn't pay his fair share but now it's FU dirtbags and by the way I will turn you in. How about you just pay your ticket or kick in extra for the recreation services you "stole" in the past. Then when given an olive branch you are still the a-hole. You were right when you said the crags are getting to crowded--but it is you who should leave. By the way post up your pics of your 39 year old ass kicking some ass on the rock I need a good laugh!!

Wow, you must be psychic....you can tell my future too, no? Hello pot, I am a black kettle.
I suggest you go back and re read your own posts.

The point. You've missed it by miles. I dont recall admitting that I was an idiot who didnt pay his fair share. I saw no olive branch, did you extend the spiky briar instead? You're not very good at talking smack on the interwebz either. I think you can do better. What would you possibly be able to turn me in for? Hurting your feelings? Further proof that youve missed the whole point.

And Im not so angry in real life, I just dont like you and the way you came in here.

I'm not the guy who is 1)spending hours worrying about a $75 ticket 2)going to spend gas money and time in court 3)Not smart enough to have taken care of this before it came to this point. A smart man would have copied his pass and sent it with a copy of the ticket to either the officer or where the ticket was to be paid IMMEDIATELY--case closed. Now you WILL pay court fees and most likely WILL pay $75. The judge won't want to hear your explanation. This isn't CSI. BuddhaStalin you just may get what you deserve which is a $75 dollar moron fee.

Keep looking, there's a few out there. Ive been sent packing by more than one medusa's cave in my time. You sound like one of the lucky ones, but be en garde, the medusa's caves weren't attached to the sorts of women I expected them to be....
