Hey Supermom, If you're real don't get too discouraged. 25 years ago I was in your shoes but living in Michigan of all places.
Take a class, go to a gym, buy a book (there are many good ones out there) and go to the crags- a skimpy outfit won't hurt. And formost don't forget that most climbers- the internet variaty most of all- are frauds or jerks or both. The rest are usually too busy working or climbing to take on a beginner.
If you get to Bishop look me up and I'll try to set aside a day or two.

Her account is up. Supadupamommy was deactivated, probably cause they joined to sneak in this thread.
But bet she's real. Forgive them Mom! They know not what they do cause we old cynical salty dogs and have smelled too many other salty dogs.
