Blue, that's a dumb statement. As an independent voter, I find myself consistently voting for one party in national elections, but since I have a brain and pay attention, I find myself voting for candidates in both parties at the state level. This is because I vote for merit rather than party.
Sadly, since the midterm election I've been forced to vote democrat. This is because the tea partiers have an asinine agenda. I'd vote for a traditional republican, but crazy doesn't get my vote.

If the best choice was always Repub, WTF?
to put forth that as an argumentative line of reasoning is pure ignorance. You should join Dr. F at the next 100 level logic class your local community college has to offer.

Hapa was once a bad word. Simply means half. It was interesting to see the politics of race play out in a city built on farming. It seemed that the way he was identified depended on whether the observer considered himself blue or red.
This has nothing to do with his record (time will tell). Part of me is kind of proud he's Hawaiian. A guy like him, his age, probably wouldn't have come from anywhere else.
Finally, I do believe these will be classic.
I thought. In black and white, may be more better classic.

My offspring was born in the same hospital that Obama supposedly was born in. I wonder if her birth certificate will come into question? Sad to say but anyone that makes it to the highest level of office is a lying, cheating stab you in the back person. Not much different than corporate execs. The Repub / Demo battle is just silly. Both parties have good attributes and also have significant negatives. Obama sucks, Bush sucked more, Clinton was a piece of lying sh** , Reagan was an unqualified actor??? I honestly do not understand how anyone could 100% agree/identify with a single political party. Politicians are largely scum. Greatly looking forward to an election that is Mormon vs a socialist. Lose lose for America in my opinion. My $.02

Why can't we all agree that BOTH Bush and Obama have screwed this country, and are acting based upon special interests that puts the money in their coffers? WE are screwed totally and completely as a nation until we are able to somehow change the campaign finance laws. The Supreme Court itself sold our Nation out with its decision to equate corporations to United States citizens, how corrupt is that, and how telltale how far the all mighty dollar has reached the highest offices in this land?
United we Stand, divided we Fall. Has never met so much until this time in our history.

"Why can't we all agree that BOTH Bush and Obama have screwed this country, and are acting based upon special interests that puts the money in their coffers?"
No doubt Shrub & Obama are serving special interests. That's Politics 101, and every politician from Kennedy to Reagan and beyond have done that. It's wrong, it should be changed, but for right now, it's politics as normal, SNAFU.
With that 'level ground' under Shrub & Obama, Shrub is clearly more culpable in my book. It was his ignorance and hubris that stuffed this country deep into an economic toilet. Obama could clearly have approached this shithole differently, but no matter who the POTUS was, they would have probably had a similar level of 'success'. The two POTUS's were handed completely different economic circumstances at the outset of their presidencies- there really isn't any rational comparsion, but there's plenty of room for ideologically-based irrational comparisons.
"WE are screwed totally and completely as a nation until we are able to somehow change the campaign finance laws."
Agree. Very much agree.
"The Supreme Court itself sold our Nation out with its decision to equate corporations to United States citizens, how corrupt is that, and how telltale how far the all mighty dollar has reached the highest offices in this land?"
Agree. AGREE. AGREEEEEE!!!!!!!!!1169

It was said;
As an Independent Ron, name some prominent Democrats you vote for?
After all, true independents are not partisan and vote both ways.
And I said;
That is illogical. Don't make sense.
If the best choice was always Repub, WTF? Same thTing the other direction.
Norton ask:
Oh really?
What exactly do you not understand about an "Independent"?
The very definition means they are not a "registered" member of ANY political party.
An Independent votes for Democrats, Republicans, or Libertarians, or any other person or political party they choose to, at that point in time, during whatever election.
How does your definition of a political "Independent" differ from the above, Blue?
Registered, yes. But it doesn't mean that you cannot be drawn more to a certain ideology more often than not.
You can be a lifelong Independant and have chosen one party the whole time. Just because you're an Independant, doesn't mean you have to occassionaly vote for different parties. Maybe one party has always appealed to someone who chose to register Independantly.
That's what I meant.
It was this that struck me as illogical;
After all, true independents are not partisan and vote both ways.

Because there's no comparison.
The damage cause by Bush is infinitely worse than the combined efforts of all Democrats over the past 50 years.

There has been criticism of the president's vacation at this time. But how does the number of vacation days the president has spent compare to his predecessors? CBS Radio's Mark Knoller has kept track of presidential vacations for years and supplied the data.
I love his guitar work with Dire Straits.
