It's always fun to combine birding and rock climbing.

I have Nikon monarch binoculars 8x36 that I'm willing to let go for a $100.

They are in very good shape, I don't have the box or eyepiece cover as they are MIA since our move.

Believe it or not, there's a golden eagle family near where I live in urban Aurora (think Denver, but poorer).

I have a 15 mile loop I do on my road bike on my lunch break. Noticed a few big raptors bopping around in a field full of prairie dogs early this summer. I figured they were just a few big red tail hawks. But then a few months later I saw one again... and it had grown!

Yesterday on my bike ride I saw one of 'em in that same field for the third time. Still immature, but the biggest bird I've ever seen. Probably about two and a half feet from beak to tip. Didn't stop to look, as I was trying to beat my best time, but it was on a nearby phone pole, and I got a pretty good look. It is sort of medium brown in the front, and dark brown on the back, with big furry-looking legs.

Looked about like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/doxydad/4331660734/

Super-cool! Except, of course, for the poor prairie dogs, lol.
