A new bar opened in Squamish a few years ago. I don't remember the name, but it was just upriver. Nice view of the chief, and plenty of outdoors seating.
Maybe someone who frequents Squamish can let us know if it's still there.

Mojede or hooblie, do you know the name of the bar in Fishtail. Me and my bros watched the superbowl in there one time and had a hell of a time with all of the cowboys. Free food and cheap beer. Also the grocery store in Fishtail is one of the coolest grocery stores around. I have had some of the best hand cut steaks from that place I have ever eaten. Whole foods has nothing on that place.

the cowboy bar, on the corner there in fishtail.
BIG snow winter of '78-'79, we headed into the west rosebud to do some ice climbing off the leaky wooden watchya-callit ... flume, i guess that fed the penstock into the powerhouse from the dam.
we got in behind the bulldozer that was plowing the road open to do a weekly shift change. the drifts were filling in so fast behind us that we bailed or else we would have been married to that plow all the way in and back out, and wouldn't have got to climb.
so we found ourselves in the cowboy bar for the last few hours of the night in our gortex and pile while a couple dozen mighty lubed up ranch hands took turns cutting in on the spinning of 3-4 really sorry looking girls around the dance floor.
as closing time approached there was a certain palpable tension in the air, to which these exalted ladies were completely oblivious. and rightfully so, because they were gleefully over the moon with all the attention

Who can climb, and at the same time afford a BAR?
That said:
The Bar Nash in Chamonix was always great fun. As long as the brits didn't try to get into a fight with you. Just trying to keep Shipley from getting arrested was hard enough after a few beers. That is something, because in France back then, it was nigh impossible to get arrested for just being a nuisance.
The Moose Bar in the Tetons was cool. I spent my 18th birthday getting hammered there in the afternoon with a silent Chuck Pratt two stools away. Never said a word. Just sipped slowly on red wine.
What is it with the old guys and red wine? Geez. I will never forget DR and Alan Bard teaching me how to wine boulder.

Red Anorak in N. Conway. Plenty of girls willing to dance with grotty, down from Huntington's ice climbers.
Is it still there?

In the early '90's Chamonix the 'Nash' had become a 'nice place'. Sad to see. In that time frame the "The Jekyll and Hyde" was the place. The only bar in my life where they new what I drank. Last Time I was there I was Just the "The Jekyll" and its a 'nice place' now. Were is 'the place' now
