I agree with spider. Its not what number the scale says, its how you feel, its accomplishing goals!

I agree somewhat, but if you're single it's a good way to 'hook up' with someone with a shared interest.

If you're not looking for a date, go with a married dude...like me. But I'm out of town this weekend.

I lost about 30 lbs last year & have gained about 20 of it back. It has killed my confidence so hard, but after seeing GDavis' post, I must say that i'm feeling a bit inspired to change....

just an idea...sorry ..it's off topic...

Maybe it's time for a weight loss challenge?...different rules..

The Facelift Weight Loss Challenge....Or..The Facelift Challenge.

All the money goes to the- Yosemite Climbing Association.

Commit to losing 10 pounds.. by the first day of the Facelift.........yep, more than 4 weeks to lose the weight .

$25 bucks to join-in.. $ 50 bucks.. if you fail to lose the weight....honor system..

Yes???....No???
If yes, i don't want to be in charge.

Edit..Bluey, in your case.. it can be the- quit smoking challenge...seriously ..(-;

This Challenge can be about weight, smoking, or drinking....

second edit: If you have less than 10 pounds to lose, $ 25.00 dollars is your amount to pay-up..

Not a bad idea, Nita.

(it would be unhealthy for me to lose 10 pounds though...maybe I could beef up 10 pounds)

Nita,

I think you have a great idea.
The template you suggest, much simpler than Sooze's challenges in the past,
leads to a set up where you don't have to "be in charge."
Honor system, no enforcement or bookkeeping role, no winners wondering when
they're going to get their hard-earned payoff...

HOWEVER, I believe you must "be in charge" to the extent of starting the
official facelift challenge thread and keeping the topic before the eyes of
the "public."

A couple years ago, I joined a challenge, knowing I would lose and have to
pay (I was maintaining my winning weight from the previous year) just
because I wanted to encourage a couple friends who had pudged out a bit.
I would certainly join this challenge, even knowing my odds of succes are
about 10%.

Go Nita!!

I started on Monday. Count me in, although like scurfy b and bluey, I'm not sure I can provide a full 10 lbs, That would take me down to my '30s weight.

bluey: you can substitute quitting smoking. you have to pay up if you take ONE toke of a ciggie during the week of Facelift, whether or not you're there. other tokes....well OK.
When you've made it through the Facelift week you won't go back.

Cool to hear that you will be at the Facelift!!

My girl and I will be there too - I'm not sure how much of it I will be there for, depends on if I get the wall done I'd like to try.

Hope to see you there!

> I'm finally getting out of this crappy depression and feelin' pretty darn good.

Yay!

If you are on SSRIs for treatment of the depression, they could easily be the main source of the weight gain.
Check with your Dr. on alternatives, although switching to a new drug could be tricky.
It just seems like it would be wise to take it easy on your hip / get that cleared up before really climbing. And if a drug switch turns off the weight gain that will make climbing and other stuff more fun, too.

That's a drag about the traffic, Sully.

I usually try to get there around 10ish because the lot fills up pretty quick nowadays with all the boulderers and hikers and guides.

I'll have specifics later today.

Hi Michelle,

Looks like you're in no shortage of partners. I'm always on the lookout for female partners. I find one (yay!) and then ultimately lose them to the opposite sex (boo!).

If you or any other ladies want to get together, I'd be keen on organizing an all female trip to the valley in September/October. PM me if you or anyone else is interested.

Cheers,
Shino
