There are a lot of newbs here, at least in SoCal. I would argue at a much higher ratio than in CO.

Why would you argue that? We get in a nice crop of new newbs (is that redundant?) here in Boulder every fall (CU students). Mostly nice people, and many of them graduate from newb status, or lose interest in climbing, or whatever.
There are lots of world class climbers in Boulder, and lots of world class wankers (Hi Philo!). It's a fun place, just like lots of CA.

Oh hold on just left coast minute, now you're poaching for real! "It's The Water" is the tagline from our now defunct Olympia swill, not Coors. I suppose that's typical Kleptorado behavior though...

Truth be told, from my former days as a Californian back in the 70's, I do recall an anti-Colorado sentiment, it seemed popular to feel about those folks the same way the Coloradans felt about Texans. It all makes about as much sense as high school football rivalries. We were all noobs once, and there's nowhere you can live that will insure you're either an okay sort or a total jerk.

Over their heads or not, I'm glad that TR wasn't an obit.

Favorite CO joke as of late:

How do you know if someone is from Colorado?

Don't worry, they'll tell you...

Maybe...since Colorado is the "healthiest" state in the Union, they think it will put their California Johns more at ease (you guys seem to know quite a bit of info about these girls...just sayin).

....that Yosemite or JT aren't the center of the climbing universe.

Oh, but they are my delusional friend....they are. Got a recipe for CaliWyde fer ya but I'm sure it'll collect dust under your collection of Gunni Undies (patent pending).

On a different note - why did the rescue crew need to go to the high tech expensive solution? Couldn't one of them have gone across with a couple of extra ropes and had the shore crew pull them back?

Or was this a case of "let's play with our cool toys"...

And wouldn't there be more than a few rough-n-tough genuine never-been-indoors Colorado climbing gods thereabouts to toss her a rope and pull her over before fire trucks would arrive? Maybe we don't have all the FACTs yet.

Do you really think this is about my ego?
Why yes, isn't it obvious?

Why, you might ask, would I slag on California?
Cause you live in Boulder and have to compensate. Especially with all the sh#t Greenies take from the Rocky mountain neighbors.

Denver is okay, just your typical eastern city like say Flushing.

Boulder, on the other hand, as the most naively pretentious, honky enclave ever, clearly has to go!

The slutty girls are kind of a positive aspect of living here, go to The Spot one night and just try not to get laid. It's like a roman bathouse in there some nights.

Bold talk for someone who hasn't been laid this century, :)

Hey now!
Lets not pick on God's country!!

Couldn't the rescue team just have pranced across there and pulled them back?
