As far as the twins names............we had names picked out;....It was Levi and Penn..........but at the hospital when I asked which one was Levi and which one was Penn....she said that they didn't look like Levi OR Penn.........so I asked what they DID look like....she said Von...(which we had talked about before) and then she said Lake....and I said....."WHHHAAATTTT?....".......Von and Lake.......(I do tell them when I shop at Vons that we were either going to call him Von or Stater Brothers...but choose Von because of them....)...

Todd,
Glad to hear your son is feeling better.
It's always better err on the side of caution with these little guys.
Sam and I were just talking about how tough kids raised in the desert are, compared to thier city counterparts.
Von's a trooper!

I just red this, glad the kiddo is better.
For future reference:
start the bee sting victim on benadryl right away, a fifty pound kid can take a 25mg benadryl/diphenhydramine capsule every six hours, a littler kid can take the elixir (dose by the directions), an adult 25-50mg q6hrs, you probably can avoid the steroid if you start the benadryll early
a good stiff dose of ibuprofen can help with the pain
steroid elixir tastes terrible and kids HATE it, so ask for the pills instead (they come in all doses) dont crush them, just hide them in a big spoonful of chocolate syrup, or have the kid chew up a saltene cracker and press the medicine into the softball of food in the roof of his mouth right before he swallows it
I carry only four things in my back country firstaid kit: benadryll, ibuprofen, no doze, and duct tape....

Maybe blur out his face in the images? If his friends find this some day, there'll be hell to pay...

1st Todd, I'd remove the photo of your son in his undies on the couch, PTPP lurks on this site and that kind of photo might get him all hot and bothered.
2nd, Why come to the internet for medical advice? It's like people who call an ER asking for medical advice: "If you think it's an emergency, you need to show up and be seen by an MD. We cannot diagnose over the phone"
You could have gotten the same point across with out embarrassing your kid and getting PTPP all bothered.
Carry on.

doc bs........excellent advice;.....we are on it. We did give him benedryll right away....and he DID hate the medicine....but when we told him it was that or an injection....he started to take his medicine.....I removed the pic of Von in his tidy whities......twisted world we live in that someone would find a kid in his underware anything but normal.....(thanks for the advice....it's best to be safe than sorry...)....and I asked for advice on supertopo because I know there are alot of docs on supertopo that are willing to help out....and alot of others would know me and are willing to share their stories and knowledge....thanks again for helping us weather this small storm........

Glad to hear Von is well and looking stoked again Todd.
I was playing on a jumpy jump at a thirteen year olds birthday party years ago. Probably had a good 8 or 10 sierra nevadas in me thinking i was invinsable in that jumpy. well I landed wrong (way wrong) and cracked one of my nutts. I nearly passed out and sobered right up. The Damn thing swelled up the size of a orange or small grapefruit and I too could not walk. I went to the Dr. the next day and his first words when he saw what was going on was you poor guy. He sent me for a sonagram that showed that it was indeed a broken egg. This was one of the most uncomfortable experiences of my life for a few days. I can completely simpathize with your boy and understand his deal.
Glad to see your ok Von
Todd other than this incident I hope you and the family are healthy and well.
Best Regards
T2

Sorry to hear he's lost his place in the Tour. Keep up the 'roids, however, and maybe add some blood doping to his regimen, some of those weird enzymes too and get him back in the saddle....
Might want to wait on "back in the saddle" part until the swelling goes away.
