Unbelievable, I'm starting regret I ever spent any time attempting to do anything for the climbing community at large over the years.
Here's the deal:
I show up for work on Sunday morning. I set up my area. I run into the guide in question. We chat for a few. I asked him where he was planning to take his group and how large it was. I told him where my group was and I was ready to go. At the end of the day, after I was finished I stopped by the Indian Cove Market.
I saw the guide and commented "Boy these full days with 10 people by yourself are a bitch. I'm tired."
He had an odd look on his face and he said "My pack just got stolen." I was kinda set back. I asked him what happened, and he told me the same story I told to all of you.
This all happened within a few minutes of when I arrived. He was VISIBLY shaken by it.

Thanks Andy!
It doesn't need to be a ton of stuff, just some things to help him get back on his feet. He dropped by Nomad and said his boss is gonna lend him some gear.
You are always welcome to crash here at the ranch!
By the way, just to clear things up, this isn't some CLOSE FRIEND of mine. It's a local climber/guide who I know, but don't spend time with.
I'm just trying to do the right thing by helping out somebody in our community.
Whether the guide service he works for has insurance for gear or not, isn't my business. Some do, some don't.

Because that's how it is. The school's here provide shoes, harness, and helmet. We as guide provide the rest.
Anybody who wants to chip in a thing or two can send it to Nomad. Do it under my name and they will make sure it gets to the guide.

I had a pack stolen at a party once. Only it was full of mushrooms......My fault for leaving a nice Gregory pack full of desirables unattended. I feel for the guy but he should have took it with him!

No, he wasn't driving. I think he and his girlfriend have to share the car they have.
The saddest part was that the people who stole the pack were parked in front and he was going to ask them for a ride home. They were gone when he came out to ask, so was his pack.
His decision to leave his pack where he did was not exactly the best, but it still does not warrant this.
Somebody just left a few items at Nomad. I'm going to up my offer to some stoppers as well since I have SH#T LOADS of them.
The rest of you can question as you please, but I can assure you I would never make a request like this if I wasn't sure of what happened.
If you do not want to contribute, then don't.
The truth is, some of the people who are questioning this are typical of this site and will not post up their names to support their statements. I will.

For sure Robert I will help. If we can help people like our friend Doug Nidever, who has a presence here on ST, we can also help someone that is also present but unfortunately not known by many of us.

i'm the guide in question and thanks to everyone for replies...
i feel like crying and puking and screaming at the same time, but also have felt the love as local guides/climbers have been loaning or donating....
at first i was like i'm done, screwed, finished but then i decided to rise above the funk some tweeker tried to pull me in....i worked yesterday thanks to seth and sara from cliffhanger guides cause of their loan of gear....
the hardest part is that alot of my gear is not replaceable and the trust i have is deminished......
here is a list....

and thanks for your snide remark, we've known each other for that long.....my reasons were that i am open and loving and trusting....trying to get back to my same state after this....

I've got some random climbing gear things from your list and some brand new Mad Rock water bottles. I'll see what else I can round up for you.
Keep your chin up and get back to it. The climbing community is a great big family and we've got your back.
I'm a big believer in Karma (or whatever you choose to call it). I've reaped the rewards of my good behavior and paid the price for my crappy deeds. Everyone involved here (including you) will get theirs in time.

Gotta beware of the creepers* out there. I'm there every weekend and am very mindful of them. Gotta keep stuff in a locked car or on your person. Too many creepers out there who will take things otherwise. Too many folks out there with drug problems and nothing better to do.

"creepers" locally there is termed by Fish. A term which is so true.

We use steel biners cause they last for ever when you have tons of top roping to do with large groups.
Sky, glad you're starting to get your gear. I've got some stuff that will be coming your way and others have emailed me and will offer some stuff up.

I've got (4) brand new (tags still on them) double-length skinny slings and (2) brand new Mad Rock water bottles for you.
I'll put them in a bag and leave them at Nomad for you this coming weekend.

Thanks for stepping up folks. My apologies if I wasn't clear enough in the beginning on the details of the theft. But as I said before, I would never post something like this unless I was sure of what happened.
Yup, got your email locker, thanks. Just haven't gotten a chance to email you back. Good suggestion.
