Thank you to all the American Alpine Club volunteers who sacrificed a beautiful afternoon to scrub the rocks. There is still more work to be done. If you are interested in volunteering please contact me.

Click Here for more pictures of the graffiti at Patagonia Pile in Joshua Tree National Park.

Let's keep Joshua Tree looking wild and less like a city alley.

Thank you very much,

Bernadette

Yes, it is definitely art.

Love Locker's boiling it down:
Legal/not legal makes ZERO difference as to IF it is "ART" or NOT???...

ZERO!!!...

Lots and Lots of art has been illegal at one time or another.

Allen Ginsberg's "Howl"

Henry Miller's "Tropic Of Cancer"

William S. Burrough's "Naked Lunch"

Hieronymus Bosch paintings

Even the Bible has at various times and places been illegal, but most especially preaching.

Music is/was illegal under the Taliban.

But the point is that being illegal cannot make it NOT ART.

That said, I do have my own private thoughts about "quality" and where my own line between "art" and garbage grafitti is.

Thank you AAC volunteers for removing this "art" fron Patagonia Pile, and Thank you Bernadette for posting the pics. Graffiti is a glorified name for VANDALISM! I hope some of the persons who defaced the rock have to spend 10 years of their life removing their "work." If you like graffiti, why don't you do it on your own living room wall or your car. Realistically, I do not expect the authors to have an IQ above .5, let alone to own a car. Graffiti is a monument to stupidity by persons who do not have the guts to sign their name.
