Tarbuster uses the method of doling it out slowly. His TR's get a lot of play that way. Starts with a few pics and some verbage leaving us smelling the bait. Gets his feed back, then adds more, etc. Sort of like sex if you 2 pump chump it most won't be satisfied, some will. Lots of foreplay will keep em cuming back....
It'd keep me coming back as well as others I am sure.

I agree Jim. I remember you coming to San Diego(A-16)with your slide show not long after this humongous achievement in American mountaineering/alpinism. Made everyone real proud.
These are some of the most incredible pics, and adventure...

Jim,
One odd thing about forums is the posts that get read the most or loved the most aren't usually the ones that get bumped the most. Two idiotic knuckleheads can keep a topic at the top for weeks or months or years even though they are the only two boneheads looking at it. I've returned to newsgroups after being away for years and the same three or four weirdos are still arguing about the same five stupid issues.
It's called "Warnock's Dilemma" post good stuff and good people will see it but they might not post a response.
I've followed various newsgroups and forums over the years and they all have a time line: they begin good and on topic, then it gets cluttered with noobs and the opinionated ignorant, then they get taken over by the emotionally disturbed loonies that are totally self focused, then they die.
Supertopo is getting sadly close to death.
But Jim, I read all of your posts and think it is great that guys like you are here. Keep posting, the real people love it. Also, if you ever need a middle aged, rather weak climbing partner, send me an email. I'll bring a camera.

This is a great thread;and considering the importance of the ascent, it would be good to hear a lot more about it; i.e. pitch-by-pitch descriptions from the viewpoint of each of the team members; details of interpersonal feelings and communications (then and now); techniques applied and improvised for the occasion, equipment used, equipment that could stand improvement or didn't work properly or worked great, etc.
There are probably a thousand lessons learned that can be captured and passed on to others attempting similar ascents. Perhaps interactions between team member postings can jog memories that otherwise get lost.

Hey Jim, that first photo is fantastic, living the dream far in the sky.
One of the all-time best mountaineering images I've ever seen.

I agree. If a picture is worth a thousand words, this one speaks volumes, indeed!
That would make a great poster. Or maybe you would consider giving a few more slide shows. I am sure you would get plenty of support here(Taco)and the climbing community in general...just sayin!

Jim,
Awesome. I'm glad you are finally posting images :-))
I remember a great weekend climbing with you as a client in Leavenworth. You invited my friend and I over to your house for a semi-private slide show after a weekend of climbing. I've seen these awesome slides! I recall a European boot designer you were working with was there also. Sometime in the Summer/Fall of 1980.
Torre Egger, Latok I, and a bigwall in Venezuela climbing a remote tepuis. Great stuff.
Very cool. Keep it coming.
Thanks.

Don't worry Donini, we'll keep your thread alive until you get back. Then you can post some more pics and stretch it out a bit. Be a little more dramatic, and the complaining seems to work well. There is an art to these thread things that unfortunately escapes me. Carry on, we got your back.

Wow, those seracs in the last picture look intense. You're much braver than I. I love a good runout, but that kind of route requires another order of magnitude of committment. Thanks for the pictures. I agree, the story would be appreciated, and read, here on ST.
