I read of John Bacher's death in the New York Times. That jogged my memory's my years in the Park from the early 60s to the 70s.

This led me to finding super topo. I lurked for months looking for anything about the people I remembered. I read about Jim Bridwell, who could ever forget Bridwell in his prime. With his pink pants, his Paisley vest, his long hair flowing in the wind as he strolled around the Park, like a young lion.

It was my friendship with Warren Harding, which led me to write my first post “The Warren Harding I Remember”.

The rest is history, so to speak fast-forward a few months, and I am nearly finished writing a history of Warren's life.
I keep tweaking and adding material.

I've especially enjoyed hearing from and meeting some of the super topo people this last May, when I visited the Park.
Much has changed over the years. The heart of the Park, its people are not so different, and years from now, they will be telling their stories of the old days in the Park.

I lurk more than I post. Super topo is my not so guilty pleasure and a way to stay connected to the Park and all the wonderful characters was passed through so many years ago.

Thank you so much.

I get much more from ST than I can ever give.
How many old gals get to hang out with some world class athletes and talk about C4 and stories of my days and nights at the old black Mt Room bar. What is not to love, it's all good.

I got interested in this site during the Stonemaster threads that Largo started a few years ago. All of a sudden I was reading first hand experiences written by some of my climbing heroes.

I find both ST and Mountainproject to be very good ways to waste bunches of time. Being a CO climber that likes to get out during winter, the ice conditions discussions on MP are often helpful. However, the inane banter over there is just annoying at times. Maybe it's a generational thing, but I just like the sense of humor displayed over here better.

Chez,

The older I get and the more I learn; the smaller is the proportion of what I know I know, to that which I know I don't know...

;-)

And the down side is learning about so many old friends long gone...
