Good pic of the capitol stone, Sleeper, It has been climbed many times, though BITD security was much more blase' than currently about stoners monkeying about where Rick Perry and his hair work. I expect Crump to chime in here soon on buildering that granite.
It is readily apparent Todd Gordon knew what to do when he ran into large crystalled orange granite. No captions needed unless you want to know the locals' name for the lines. He mined the area well. Perhaps he has visited more than once....
Not that Enchanted Rock is a destination. It is a great stopping-off place on the way to somewhere. Plenty of sunny weather makes it a high percentage climbing venue. It is just outside the maritime climate near the Gulf, which Austin ain't. And the dedicated group of granite afficianados is friendly in the main. Just ask Donini.
Yeah, it's where I cut my climbing teeth taught by a guy who learned from John Harlin how to put the rope up.

I pretty much learned to climb in Texas with many trips to the green belt, Reimer's, and E-rock as well as a few other places thrown in. Lots of good memories there, I especially liked camping at Reimer's and E-rock. I recognize most of the climbs in the pics Todd posted.
I was also lucky enough to spend a few months in Hueco the last spring before the anti climbing rules. I mostly bouldered then, but have done a fair number of climbs on N Mountain too. Since then I've been back to Texas a few times including a 2004 attempt on the Wanker 101 recently featured in the mags.
here is a link w/ a few pics to that....

I didn't do much rock climbing there, but there must be some serious potential in Big Bend...
